Ugh.. Site to Site problems..
I've checked the FAQ.
I've read the docs.
I've searched the forums as best as I could.. while I found some semi-useful info, I am still having an issue.
I am trying to get site to site, or "FXP" transfers working.
I am using an FTP server that I run and another FTP run by a friend. I cannot get the transfer to start. Here is the log:
227 Entering Passive Mode (HISFTP,18,114).
PORT HISFTP,18,114
200 PORT command successful.
STOR FILENAMEHERE
150 File status okay; about to open data connection.
RETR FILENAMEHERE
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for FILENAMEHERE 5427200 bytes).
425 Unable to open data connection.
Transfer Failed!
TYPE A
200 Type set to A.
PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (HISFTP,115).
425 Unable to open data connection.
Data Socket Error: Connection refused
TYPE A
200 Type set to A.
PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (MYFTP,210).
LIST
150 File status okay; about to open data connection.
226 Closing data connection. Transferred 114 bytes.
Transfer queue completed
1 File failed to transfer
My FTP is NOT behind a router or firewall. I am unsure about his. I can connect to both FTP's just fine, stand-alone, and transfer files all day long. It only craps out when I try to do a site to site. My FTP uses port 6900, his uses port 67. I've already tried playing with the 'alternative FXP' settings..
wth? Why do normal transfers work fine, but FXPing doesn't?

Hmm, it is very possible that both sides are incapable of the PASV command, or both are incapable of the PORT command. I'm having difficulty reading the log and telling exactly where the error is coming from, I must be losing my touch.
Would you mind editing your FlashFXP.ini file, and add this entry?
[main]
DebugTag=1
If you have a [main] section already, simply add that line to it. Restart FlashFXP and try to recreate the error. This time it should identify each line with a little (1) or (2) indicating which site is talking.

Ok, I did what you asked.
A bit more info first: I know both sides support PASV transfers because that's how I am usually transferring files.. it's ALWAYS using PASV mode. This is the first time I've tried to do Site-to-Site though.. so it's assumably never worked.
What I did was connect from my home PC, to FTP1, then opened a site to site connection to FTP2 and tried to transfer a file. I am behind a Linksys here at home, if that has any bearing.. although as I said, I don't have problems sending or recieving files normally (non site to site).

I also tried disabling PASV mode in FlashFXP, but then I couldn't connect properly to FTP2.
I also tried to connect from a THIRD FTP to FTP2 and do a site to site.. basically the same thing happend, although it didn't take as long to tell me it couldn't send the file. Again, FTP2 only seems to work in PASV mode, period.

BTW, FTP1 uses TitanFTP, FTP2 VizNetic FTP, FTP3 uses ServU-FTP. I am thinking about setting up two FTP's here inside of my private network and seeing what happens...

Aah, So you are infact behind a router. Your original post said you were not.
The problem is that you're sending the port command "PORT 192,168,0,5,etc,etc" to a computer on the internet who has no idea who 192.168.0.5 is. This is a local IP useful only to computers on your own network. Instead it needs to tell the site "PORT 12,211,28,180,etc,etc" (presuming 12.211.28.180 is your public address)
I know there is a solution for this, but I'm not sure exactly how to set it up. You either have to enter your public address under Options > Preferences > Proxy / Firewall / Ident > "Firewall" > [] Bind sockets to this address, or I also recall some undocumented INI options that were once used for something like this.
Have you tried performing a site-to-site transfer between two Internet hosts with non-192.168.* IP addresses?
Hope this leads you in the right direction.
- Raccoon
Edited: Added....
Instead of connectiong to your own local FTP server through 192.168.0.5, try connecting to it through 12.211.28.180 instead. This might just save you the trouble of messing with the firewall settings, and will also insure your router is properly configured to accept incoming connections to the FTP server.

When performing a site to site transfer one site uses PASV and the other uses PORT. it sounds like the site sending PORT doesn't accept incoming connections. You'll have to adjust the "Alternative FXP" options in the Site Maanger so that this site never uses PORT. Check the one for "Uploading"
If neither site allow PORT then you wont be able to perform site to site transfers.

in addition to what bigstar said,
what's your network setup? any routers or firewalls? if you do have a firewall up, try to completely disable it. if you do have a router, try to connect w/o it.

In my original message, I was not behind a firewall.. I was t-served into my FTP Server, which is a 100% public machine.. I do have some firewall software on it, but I disabled it. I tried connecting to various OTHER FTP servers from my public box... I couldn't get anything to work.
I've played around with every single "alternative" setting I can manage - and combination there-of... but I will try that again, I guess.
I will login to my public box again and try to connect to two other FTP Servers and post the log files.
Oh.. and I also tried a site to site on two of my machines here (connecting from a third).. and that didn't work either.
I tried reinstalling 2.0 build 906, and that didn't help.
I tried disabling PASV mode both on my client AND the FTP Server software, and all I got some garbage text in the log when it tried to do a transfer saying "command not support<insert garbley-gook here>.

Ok.. here.. I have two FTP Servers up and going on my private network. I've already tested single transfers and they work flawlessly (as always).
So.. lets do a site to site.. that should work, right? How much easier can it be.. two FTP Servers on the exact same network.. should be cake right?
Nope.
192.168.0.5 is my workstation machine.. 0.6 is FTP1 and 0.7 is FTP2.

Are you able to open a connection from 0.6 to 0.7? Try running FlashFXP on your 0.6 machine and download a file from 0.7 to 0.6 (normal FTP). You will want to send the PASV command to 0.7 to initiate the transfer. (Use PASV Mode)
The log you pasted indicates that 0.6 is unable to open a connection to the IP,PORT that 0.7 specified in the PASV reply. The purpose of this test is to see if 0.6 is infact capable of initiating such a connection under normal circomstances, and not that it does not have permission (firewall, denied by router, etc).
The only other thing I can imagine is that your router is acting as a NAT (network address translator) and is munging the PASV/PORT packets, and we're just not seeing it. This should not be the case though, since neither FTP server resides on port 21.

Ok, I tried logging in from .6 to .7 and transfering a file in PASV mode and it worked. (I also tried vise-versa and it worked)
My internal router (Linksys) should have nothing to do with the equation. It's not even being talked to in this scenario. For kicks, I unplugged the power to it and tried it again, and it still didn't work.

I'm still at a loss..
I don't understand why it wouldn't work on my Internal Network.. other than it has something to do with the FTP Server software. That would be the only thing.
I am going to try setting up a couple of Serv-U FTP servers and see.. but other people have done FXP's to my FTP before.. GRRR...
They just don't work anymore.
