5.8.8r now uses MSVCR71.DLL?

Experimenting with upgrading from 5.8.5 to 5.8.8, now the new ioftpd doesn't seem to run without this file but the old one doesn't need it. Is there some reason I couldn't just replace the exe in the system folder as was the upgrading process in earlier versions, besides adding the dll to Windows/system32?

Yes, I saw that thread. Unfortunately since my scroll button is broken, I wasn't able to read the very helpful comments near the bottom. After reading your post, I went and bought a 42 inch LCD monitor, now I can read them just fine. Thanks so much for your help.
