Default Closing down in win2k sp4 no erromsg

Hi guys.

ioftpd version: 4.9.4u

operating system: windows 2000 (service pack4 installed)

services affected: all

how-to reproduce bug: well, tried several times, even reinstalled it.

additional notes: no logs, it just doesnt start up other than show the icon but doesnt come up in task manager or in services or anywhere. no trace. And after i reinstalled i tried to move it but now i get Memory could not be "read" error when i try to run it. Even if i reinstall it again.

Anyone seen this or maybe know of any stuff that i should try? I wanted to check out the latest beta and see how this proggy worked. Raiden is getting grumpy on me.

There are some uninitalized pointers in 4.9.4 that could cause such behaviour.. but I've never ever seen that happend before Also there are some issues with thread synchronization & memory managment in unregistered version. (It uses non-synchronized heap, that is meant for registered version, while it should be using program's standard heap)

Get the "R" version - I run my sites on 2K with pack 4 with no
issues at all and it's even better than before - uptime since last
reboot on site 1 = 745 hours and site 2 = 723 hours - past
uptime have been a month plus on 2k - when I have been busy,
but as a rule, I always reboot the MS systems every 2 weeks
out of habit based on past MS issues.

Yes i would use the "R" version if i could try it out. Only download i have found is the beta u version. But i will soon have a new install of win2k and i will then try this version out again. Might solve all problems.

Well the "R" version is REGISTERED, you get what you pay for...

All I can say is that I run both my sites on 2k srvpck 4 with no
issues, other than that the uptime is based on 2K itself on
when it decides to puke...

Spend the 10.00 - well worth it...

PS: use ghost to clone your 2K setup, use a 5 gig partition and
clone the sucker once you have done the first install "BEFORE"
adding anything - then when things go BOOM, all you do is load
up ghost, 3 mins later your perfect 2k is there - I have 7 ghosts
of my setup at different stages - never have had to reinstall from
SCRATCH - only the initial install...

This might be the solution, Certificate setting in the ini file was blank and had not ; infront. this has supposedly fixed the issue with a friend of mine that had same problem.

But then again i get another error now since i've been inside the registry and deleted some ioFTPD info there. So thats another problem i got to solve by reinstalling win2k. And I will go ghost but i always forget to do it when it is finally installed properly.
