Hey another suggestion.

Theres this cool feature in another ftp software that makes a tar.gz for you prior to uploading. I never found a tarball maker for windows, so I used that very often. Haven't needed it for awhile though.

This can be a handy feature indeed, however there is a new technology called MODE-Z which enables compressed file transfers on the fly. Bigstar said this feature will be implemented in the feature. Of course, the file transfered will not be packed on the server, only the transfer is compressed.
