Hi all and thanks bigstar for your app !

For me, FlashFXP will be better if :

- We could change the icon of the systray. Should be quite nothing to implement, I don't like my boss seeing my desktop with a FlashFXP icon... For him, FTP means file transfer, means warez, means etc... You know what I mean

- The second suggestion is to add support for the 4th and 5th buttons of a mouse like the MS Explorer cordless mouse: For example, if you click on the 4th, it "makes CD..". It could be very nice for the custom commands !

- Taking about "makes CD..", it could be good to move to the parent dir with the Backspace key... I think it's a common shortcut imho

I'm not sure if bigstar has any alternate icons, but if someone were to make some...

I suppose that's possible, yes. I think those two has been overlooked.

It is, and it already supports it.

Due to the design of custom commands there is no way these buttons could be assigned to a custom command.

Support was added for the 4th and 5th mouse buttons last week, their functionality is fixed. the 4th button, issues a change to parent dir, and the 5th button will enter the current selected folder.

Ok I just tested my buttonswith the latest beta, it works fine

Talking about icons, I just want an option to select another icon, like a Bart Simpson face that I got on my harddrive

Just for the tray-icon? That could work, unless it too is of a non-standard size?

I've got 2.0 RC2 build 862, but I can't seem to find where to enable the 4th mouse button. My Logitech mouse 4th button (thumb button) is set "Internet Back" command.

Right now, clicking the thumb button does nothing inside FlashFXP, but works everywhere else. I do not wish to change the 4th button to "Backspace".

I suspect that Logitech is not compatible with the method used in FlashFXP.

Thanks for the reply. The link you mentioned doesn't help me much since I'm not a C programmer.

There has been a handful of FTP programs that do work with my Logitech mouse. Any chance that this may be something you'll look into?

In the meantime, I'll try the latest Logitech drivers for XP and see if that helps. If it does, I'll come back and report it.

The link I posted was the only information I was ever able to find regarding how to intercept those specific mouse clicks. I would have thought all mice used the same uniform method. Perhaps that's not the case.

Knowing applications support Logitech is not very helpful, because I am sure there are many. What I would require is the specific code to make it work.

I just talked with a fellow FlashFXP user who uses a logitech dual optical mouse and the back mouse button works correctly for him.

The latest drivers didn't help. I'm using a MouseMan Wheel optical USB mouse.

In the control panel, I can define many different commands/keys for any of the buttons. It will work if I set the thumb button to become Backspace. But Backspace is more dangerous than Internet Back.

I use FlashFXP on a daily basis, and I'm almost willing to get a Microsoft Mouse just to make this work. But this mouse is just so comfortable

and Microsoft mouse buttons are usually set too light, so that just resting your fingers on them triggers the button.

I've been doing some research and I came across this.

To get the coordinates of the cursor if the message was generated by a button click on the mouse, the application can call GetMessagePos. An application can test whether the message was generated by the mouse by checking whether lParam contains FAPPCOMMAND_MOUSE.

As far as I can tell HSHELL_APPCOMMAND and WM_APPCOMMAND are the same thing.

FlashFXP looks for the WM_APPCOMMAND message, I have to wonder if your mouse is sending a WM_XBUTTONUP message but it doesn't get translated some how.

The problem with WM_XBUTTONUP is that it's sent directly to the active control. There is no viable way for me to intercept this message in every control.

I've come up with a way to subclass the focused control on the fly and watch for WM_XBUTTONUP messages.

This seems to work fine with my microsoft mouse.

However this method functions differently than the previous, the previous design looked for Forward/backward messages allowing the user to assign them to any mouse button.

This new code is button specific, the left X button is backwards and the right X button is forwards.
