Unicode support & font setting per site
I see Multi-Language support is on your list. I am not sure what level of support will you make, I would like add some suggestion to it.
1. support unicode file name in local files.
2. have different native encoding setting for each site (better if we can select the font too)
By supporting unicode in local files, you may need doing unicode <-> native encoidng conversion on file name. This is why you need to set native encoding on ftp site.
Who will need this ?? Take me as an example,
I am a native Chinese speacker. Currently there are two very different encoding for Chinese, Traditional Chinese (BIG5) and Simplified Chinese (GB).
Since I work on main China & Taiwan, I need both. It give me an headache everytime I visit office site in China & Taiwan, I need to set different font for each site.
Also the downloaded file may have a meaningless name since the target site use different encoding than the local computer. This two problem must be solved if you want true multi-language support.

alume,
Which is used more? BIG5 or GB? If we went full Unicode, that might cause problems with systems that don't do Unicode, so this needs to be carefully implemented, but you certainly raise some valid points.

BIG5 is used at Taiwan/HK, GB is used at mainland China, both are very popular. But this problem is not specific to Chinese only, it affect any user who need to access ftp site with different encoding (Japanese user to access Korean site, or some European site, for example)
Doing Unicode *only* on *local system* will not breack anything.
I think FlashFxp can easily detect local system whether it support unicode file name or not (all windows NT/2000/XP does).
Remote FTP server should still keep the file name in its native encoding.
You can think the whole process as special rename process. What FlashFxp can do is when download/upload files, it convert local Unicode name <-> native encoding on remote server.

I don't think that's going to be possible.
The local controls work the way they work, I have no intention on rewriting them. Let alone writing my own to replace them.
If it currently does not support unicode (I have no idea wether it does or doesn't) but I suspect from your post that it doesn't, it never will.
Multi-langue support was going to be added at a very basic level, simple text replacement.

If the unicode issue cause too much trouble, let's skip it for now.
But, can you add a font setting option for each site, so I can still view the name correctly in FlashFxp ??
(I can do that in current version, but the option is global, I need it to be per site setting)

Actually, bigstar, Delphi has supported unicode ever since version 2, so it's only a matter of writing some functions that do the renaming. (Yes, I had a sneak-peek over at borland.com)

I don't think the visual controls support unicode.

font setting per site is an idea, at least the file/dir name in remote site can be displayed correctly.
