Default speed limiter...

I know there is already a speed limiter in FlashFXP but I think it would be to cool have "ignore speed limit when idle" or something similar... So like when ICQ sets you away for no mouse movement...

if ffxp realised you were idle it would turn the speed limit off.. To maxmise bandwidth useage, and leave aditional bandwidth available when the user is using the computer broswing/whatever...

I dont understand the need for this option. If you want your max bandwidth used, take the limiter off.

I dont belive the bandwidth limit turning on & off when idle/not idle would be possible, but ill wait for bigstar's final word

I dont understand the need for this option. If you want your max bandwidth used, take the limiter off.

The point of the option is that I want to download somthing as fast as I can (I'm on 512k) now if I'm using the PC to browse the web or whatever... Then I want a bit of BW free to do that... However when I'm not using the computer it can maximise usage of the bw... However, If I'm downloading something and I limit the BW to do something else I will often forget to "unlimit" the bw again and therefore it takes shit loads longer..

That would be a kewl feature actually. Nice one..

It would save me from opening Flash every 5 min and disconnecting when i want to open a page or something on the net...

hmm, It might be possible.. how exactly would it determine if the user is idle? mouse movement or screen saver active?

I think screen saver active would be the best

If you are going to try it bigstar, dont do it by screensaver mode, i and many others dont like screensavers, so if you do it this way, many won't be able to use it..

Try and do something like ICQ, you can set how many minutes till it changes from "Online" to "away" or "NA" mode, so another words, by idle mouse movement

And another part of the speed limiter, that you might like to add ,which i would say, many would like to see, is if you can have the limiter on a site per basis, not locked into the main options..

Thanks

will it make that much difference?
web browsing is mainly small burts of d/ls for short periods of time.
if you have 1-2 d/ls going on, browser will easily take away bandwidth that it needs..

broadband connection, i probably agree; BUT

for dialup users, this would be great

Broadband users, when you have something like 10 flashfxp clients running, would more than likely benifit too
