				425 Data Connection Port Error

			425 Can't open data connection.

Which data port is this refering to? Is it being blocked on my firewall, thought Port 21 is the only port needed for FTP-ing to a server for uploads and downloads.

Anyone else have this error and fix it?

Thanks

FTP site A was unable to connect to FTP site B, the connection failed. Site B may have a firewall, or not configured to allow FXP.

Correct Firewall in place, but ALL ports opened

DSL/Gateway

Netscreen

Switch

FTP Server Bulletproof and FXP option is on, plus have passive mode turned on.

That is the flow of traffic, all ports on Netscreen are open for testing this site-to-site thing, but some reason data is stillg etting blocked. Therefore, what port range does FXP need, I have seen it use things from 20 -> 29 is this correct?

no, 10060 is error winsock gives.
FXP transfers can use any port 1-65535(as long as it's not in use by other process)

Wow, so in order for my friend to FXP to my server I need to open all ports to my intranet?

Wonder why there is no option to force FXP to use a single port to Comm on?

no, good ftp clients and server should have an option to limit port range used for data connection.
FlashFXP has such option.
i'm just saying that it can be any port.
you asked

what port range does FXP need

		 |

i answered that i can be any range of unused ports...

I still don't understand how WAR FTPd sitting on a box with no firewall can get this data connection error with the FXP program? I am using WAR 1.65 and FXP v2.1 b924 both systems are Win 2k Pro.
Seems like there is something funky going on and want to see if other have ran into this problem. If I am working on the box and run the FXP program to connect to the internal site and some other site (i.e. lucasarts) it works fine. But, when a friend uses it to connect with his PC it throughs this Data Conn thing....

As said earlier no firewall is in place, goes from DSL router straight to WAR FTPd on Win2k
Me right now, but when it gets solved I will be then
thanks
