problems connecting to sites with my Linksys router

i have problems connecting to some of the FTP sites i got.
I'm using a Linksys BEFW11S4 router.

and when i try connecting to the sites i get:

Connecting to *****
Connected to ***.***.*** Port 35550
Connection failed (Connection timed out)
Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect attempt #1
Retry attempt Aborted

But i know that the sites is up and working for everyone else.

I would be glad if someone could help me out with this problem! Please!

Some of the sites work, but not others.. no one worked untill i checked the box pasv mode.

do i need to open any port? is that port forwarding?

Are you sure the sites are up and running? Seems to me like the site might be offline.
