Reeaaaaaaaally slow startup
i run FlashFXP 2.1 build 924, and it is taking a long, long time to open. it takes nearly 10 seconds between quicklaunch click and flashfxp window showing up on the screen. Granted, my default local directory has 1,500 folders in it. However, when i use another default local dir that is empty or has almost nothing inside it, it only reduces startup time to around 4-5 seconds. flashfxp used to pop up immediately. what happened?

how many files/folders does the folder contain? Are you using any type of shell addon that may effect performance (zip folders, zipmagic, folder encrypt, etc)

my default directory is F: which is an archiving drive, and has almost 1600 folders in it. when i change default dir to C:, which is almost empty, it reduces the time but is still slow to load.
when default directory is the one with 1600 directories:
loading time ~10 seconds
when default dir is an empty folder (or close to empty):
loading time ~4-5 seconds
my computer is a good one, too.
also, no shell addons of any sort.

No problem... that should not be a problem at all in regards to hardware.

i think i may have overshot my estimate of how long it takes to open when default directory is set to one with very few files/folders in it. it is a little closer to 2-3 seconds, not 4-5.
i think the problem seems to be how flash deals with directories that contain large amounts of files/folders, especially on startup...
(it's quicker to set default dir to a small dir and then manually change to the one containing 1600 files, rather than have that be default.)

Just thought I'd add that I get this problem aswell. Delays of between 10 seconds and 2 or so minutes. Full details as per RULE are:
* FlashFXP v[2].[1], build [924], [X]registered, [ ]unregistered, [ ]pirated
* OS [X] WinXP, [ ] Win2K, [ ] Win98, [ ] WinME, [ ] Other
* Running behind NAT/router [X NetGear RT311] Yes & Model [ ], [ ] No, [ ] Not sure
* Running firewall [X] Yes, Name [BlackIce Defender], Ver. [3.6.cbd], or [ ] No
* Running Antivirus [X] Yes, Name [Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 7.61.928] or [ ] No
* Network [ ] xDSL, [X] CABLE, [ ] Dail-Up, [ ] Other
OS Version is XP Pro SP 1
PC: Compaq Evo N800v, P4 1.9, 1GB RAM laptop. Onboard ethernet and a separate Netgear 802.11g wifi card (only used for home networking)
I have tried after uninstalling both the antivirus and the firewall software. I have tried on various networks - specifically a home network (as listed above with the RT311) and on a corporate network (no details available for consumption on a public forum).
Any help would be useful, cheers...

JahnM, please update your message board profile to include FlashFXP ID.
do you have any network drives mapped? did you try to start flashfxp when your network is disabled?

Profile updated as requested.
I experienced the same problem when not connected to the network / network disabled.
I have managed to get flashfxp to start normally now. I use a UML modelling tool called Select Enterprise( http://www.selectbs.com/products/pro...enterprise.htm). It uses a custom shell extension to manage it's model's storage. Having just uninstalled the application, flashfxp starts up almost immediately.
I'll confirm that it is this specific application that is causing the startup issue on Tuesday when I'm back in work (and can reinstall the application).
Cheers.
