when Bigstar referred you to navigate on the website....
I just wondered if you find the website difficult to navigate or if it was problematic to go to the downloads page and download the beta... or something of the sort.
never mind Im happy that you have the latest and hopefully this problem wont happen anymore...
thx anyway

Hi.
I seem to have an issue with MODE Z. I have no idea if it has started in 1596, or how long it has been there.
The server I am connecting to is a Serv-U FTP server, and I am trying to upload a file.
With MODE Z enabled, FlashFXP uses a steady 50% CPU load.
As soon as I disable MODE Z, the CPU load drops to below 1% average.
I have no speed limiting enabled.
I am not quite sure what MODE Z does, but since I download/upload compressed files 99% of the time, maybe I should just disable it by default :-)

I made some tweaks to MODE Z for uploading, we'll have to see if it makes much difference. MODE Z is much more CPU intensive but the CPU usage should be somewhat relative to the transfer speed, i.e. a slow transfer shouldn't use too much CPU, vs a local network transfer where the CPU might bottleneck before the network does.

Mode z is a compression mode if you dont know what mode z is or does why not try flashfxp help F1
this is what it says...

Note: Already compressed documents with Zip, Rar, 7zip etc. will not see a noticeable gain.
List
When checked, the file listing will be compressed. The format is plain text and text compresses very well.
Download
When checked, downloads will be compressed.
Upload
When checked, uploads will be compressed.
FXP
When checked, site to site transfers will be compressed.
Note: In order for MODE Z to work with FXP both servers must support MODE Z
Disable for local network servers
When checked, This will disable compression. MODE Z when using LAN FTP servers (local network)
SFTP
Use on the fly compression (using zlib) to compress the data which results in faster data transfers.
Enable Compression When checked, it enables compression on upload and download.
Disable for local network transfers
When checked, This will disable compression when using LAN SFTP servers (local network)

curiosity... there was no portable installer for the beta 1594 or any portable installers for ANY betas for 4.1, so can you try your update with a non protable version to see if the same error happens?

FlashFXP41_1579_Portable.exe was the last portable i guess. this one i installed and then always used the internal updater but the internal updater does not work at the moment.

as far as I know no OFFICIAL portable installers have been distributed officially for 4.1 betas
The way it works is that your liveupdate downloads the version of the beta code installer based on your pre-existing installer type.
As a beta tester you can test if a normal installation also causes same problem on liveupdate on your machine.
Then you can determine by yourself if this is a portable issue or not.
What I asked was specific to test on a NON portable installation and test.
