Default RC4 kills Internet Explorer

Oops - after upgrading from RC2 to RC4 - I somehow missed RC3 -Internet Explorer (IE6) suddently stalls with an Exception Error.
I'm not able to successfully open an Browser Window.

Only restoring to an restore point prior to RC4 brings IE back to live. Reproduced two times with the same effect.

Anybody else seeing this?

Best regards,

Lutz

what version of windows/IE are you using? install flashfxp, then try this from a command prompt (with IE closed of course):

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\FlashFXP\IEFlash.dll" or whever else its located. This will disable the internet explorer integration. Please let me know your results.

My version is 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 with the
latest updates (SP1, Q832894, Q330994, Q837009 and Q831167)
- running on XP pro SP1.

I'm just running a System-Restore Point and will try what you've proposed. Keep fingers crossed - if OK I'll write feedback in a few minutes.

CU

Linkster - you've narrowed it down to the point - unregistering the dll revives IE.

hmm, interesting. I'm running the exact same IE, and no problems. are you running any firewall, any other IE plugins, etc?

I'm running McAfee's Firewall (latest version), MSN toolbar - that's all. Would it help to send the dump?

Same thing has happened to me, except the only site that has made IE crash is allmusic.com. Since then I've removed ieflash.dll and have had no problems whatsoever. The only extra thing I'm running is Google toolbar, I have no antivirus/etc programs running.

sounds to me like allmusic.com is poorly coded. Its the only one i've found with problems too. :/

The IE plugin is based on a sample provided by MS that demonstrates a Browser Helper Object.

At this time we're not sure why the plugin is crashing when viewing certain pages.

Even the basic plugin framework without any extra code is crashing.
