Default Parent directory shown as folder

When I first installed some beta of FlashFXP I noticed that the Parent directory was shown as a folder. After restart it was showing like it is supposed to. Now I uninstalled every FlashFXP and installed FlashFXP build 1003 (newest atm) and it still happens.

:
Parent directory is supposed to show an arrow up
Parent directory acts the first time like on the screenshot (folder) till you restart flashfxp than it will not happen anymore

Hope this will be enough information

It happened to me when I installed it at another computer that hadn't got flashfxp on it yet.

So its really happening, only hard to replicate

If I remember right, this only happens the first time you start FlashFXP and it's by design to fix some other icon problem.

If you try installing FlashFXP without Administrator or Power-User permissions, FlashFXP will fail to write to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT section of your registry where a "file association" is created to display the appropriate icon.

In order to resolve this problem, log onto Windows with Administrator or Power-User level permissions and launch FlashFXP once with the following commandline switch.

FLASHFXP.EXE -setreg

This should correct the Parent Folder Icon problem.

I have an opposite problem, my parent directory icon has no icon

This happened after i went to the control panel - folder options, and changed the filetype order for "Folder".

I did however change it back to default but flashfxp still shows the "no icon" icon.

Using winxp pro, with all updates and ffxp build 1010

use tweakui to delete icon cache and then reboot, windows should refresh all icons...

Yes many times, and also did the -setreg.
But i havent reinstalled though.
I will do that when next RC gets released, the icon thing doesnt bother me that i felt i had to deal with it

Mxxcon, ive done that now but it didnt work.

I remember i had the same problem ones before with the V2.2 build but it dissapered when i reinstalled.

Joker, When you ran FlashFXP with the -setreg command line was FlashFXP being run from the windows administrator account?

Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT you should have the following keys

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.FlashFXP_PIcon
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FlashFXP_PIcon\DefaultIcon

Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT you should have the following keys

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.FlashFXP_PIcon
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FlashFXP_PIcon\DefaultIcon
ok solved.
I had those keys, but however the one in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FlashFXP_PIcon\DefaultIcon was pointing to "C:\Program Files\FlashFXP\FlashFXP.exe,1"

But i installed the program to "C:\Program Files\FlashFXPV3\FlashFXP.exe" because its still a RC.
And i have the 2.2 final, think it is b924 in "C:\Program Files\FlashFXP\FlashFXP.exe" <- and is no problem there.
so i changed the path, and now the icon shows correct.

Edit: changing the path made the b924 to show the "no icon" icon, but the RC shows the correct icon.

FlashFxp cant handle 2 different locations?

Very late versions of v2.2 and v3.0 use a newly named location for the parent folder icon. The location was changed to prevent compatiblity problems when v2.1 is installed into another folder.

You should have no problem running v2.2 and v3.0 from different locations. Although v2.2 is a beta as well. Perhaps you mean v2.1? Although if you do mean v2.1 then it shouldn't matter because it uses an entirely different key.

I believe v2.1 uses
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.FlashFXP_PI
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FlashFXP_PI\DefaultIcon
