Tried countless FTP daemons, cannot FXP!

Hello.

I've tried many FTP daemons inside a FreeBSD 4.11-RELEASE jail, such as its default ftpd, openftpd, glftpd, proftpd -- FXP works in some cases for somebody (although it seems to be switching to something called 'alternate mode' whatever that is).

The thing is, it doesn't work for the ones it is meant to work for. They cannot establish their connections, and can't get pass the STOR command. I am not very FTP savvy, so I don't know if this makes any sense to you all.

They all ran on port 21 with their data transfer portrange (5000-6000) all in the clear. I decided to try proftpd after seeing:

The question is: Why can't I FXP?

FlashFXP (tried with all recent versions) log:

425 Can't build data connection: Connection refused.

It doesn't get any more detailed than that.

You need to provide a complete copy of the ftp session log. What you provided isn't enough information.

FTP session log of something on my FreeBSD system? Or from the FlashFXP? Please tell me how to be more verbose. Because what I have provided you, IMHO, is everything that I am able to provide.

What other information would you be looking for?
