trojan incoming when transfering with flashfxp.

hi there,

when using my flash fxp (upload & download) once in a while, Norton2005 display an trojan alert... it's very annoying when uploading many gigs... It can append many times during the transfert.

- it never the same trojan name.
- never the same port.
- not on all files that append.
- Only "incoming" attempt.
- Norton2005.
- Windows Firewall removed.

I'm guessing you are talking about Norton Internet Security ? I'm not familiar with the program but you should be able to green light FlashFXP somehow. Check with Nortons how to permanently green light an application.

A decent firewall and antivirus are about all you need.

You are better off just being careful what you download and don't open any emails from senders you don't know. Even sexysue.

i'm talking about Norton Anti-virus2005...

- i don't open any suspect files from my emails box.
- my firewall are ok since i use the one into my router and the one of winxp.
- what i'm downloading/uploading is my own stuff to/from my webserver... don't download any **** from ftp dir.

The way these trojan alerts work are a joke for most professional/advanced users. Especially FTP users.

FTP uses random local ports when using PORT mode, One solution you can try is to limit the local port range in the Preferences / Connection Tab.

I'm not sure which range of ports are blocked and which are not, but you could try a port range of say 11310 to 12310.. This is just a random range I came up with, feel free to try another range. If the range of ports is too small you'll run into problems, usually 10-20 ports per copy of FlashFXP is a good measure.

You best solution is to un-install that yellow menace (Symantec stuff). They are all about marketing.... use a better solution like Kerio.

thx for your help. i'll test the new setting (port). If it remain, i'll try another anti-virus software. This is true than before with NAV2004-2003-2002-2001 i had never this kind of problem.
