Tab key behavior in 3.0

Is there a chance to change the tab key behavior in 3.0 to work as in previous versions. I use the keyboard mostly and do a lot of switching from pane to pane. It used to be that hitting the tab key would go back n forth between the 2 panes. Now in 3.0 it takes 4 presses of the tab key to go back-n-forth between the panes or between the right and left window. I'd like it to be one tab to go back in forth between the windows.
