SFTP slow in-between downloads

Hi,

I'm downloading a bunch of files from an SFTP server (each is about 14MB). It's going quite slowly and one thing I've noticed is that it takes a while (approx 30 seconds) between each download where it appears to be doing nothing.

I appreciate that this might be a server thing but just wondered if you have any thoughts?
