Question Cannot overwrite existing file when transferring from server

* FlashFXP v4.0, build 1548, registered
* OS Windows 7
* Running behind hardware router/firewall: Router
* Running software firewall: Yes, Windows firewall
* Running Antivirus: Yes, eset Nod32
* Internet Connection: Cable

I've been running Flash FXP v. 3.60 (build 1248) on a Windows Vista computer for quite some time with no problems. I just got a new computer running Windows 7 and downloaded the latest version of FXP and restored the backup file from my old version. I entered my license key and then received a new one. It seemed to go very smoothly.

I can connect fine, edit files, transfer files to my remote site, all fine. However I cannot transfer files FROM my remote server to my desktop if that file already exists. I can transfer a file from the remote server if no file by that name exists, but if I try to overwrite, I get the popup that says

"There is already a file with the same name in this location" and when I click "Overwrite" I get this error respones:

"Cannot open file F:\Documents\MyWebPages\[directory]\[filename].html"

I'll post a full dialogue from FXP at the bottom of my message in case it helps.

I tried turning off the firewall and my antivirus software, in case one of the settings on one of them was causing the problem. That didn't help.

I've read the FAQ section of the forum and about 7 pages of this section and I haven't found anyone discussing a similar issue so I'm really hoping someone here can help.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I kept futzing around until I figured it out. Somehow my document folder only had full permissions set for the Administrator. Other uses only had read access. When I granted full permissions to all users, that fixed the problem.

you don't want to grant "everyone" full control. that's insecure. you should do it only for your own account.
