Default 530 Authentication failed.

Hello

Can someone show me what the solution to this problem might be.

I have all the correct details (I think) entered but when I try to connect I get this error message, this is the first time this has happened.

530 Authentication failed, sorry.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Richard

what command gave you that reply? if it was pass then your password is probably incorrect.

Hello

Thank you for the reply so quickly.

The command I am using is the connect command in site manager, it is when I try to connect to my site that I get this error.

Regards

Richard

You should post a FULL log, pressing the Connect button in the site manager is not an FTP command, what bigstar is asking is what event the server is replying to when it gives this error.

Easiest and quickest way to get an answer to your question is to paste the ftp log (status window in flashfxp) so people can see what is happening.

yes, generaly it is bottom right window. it's the window that shows which commands are being sent to and from the server.

The log suggests that your password is wrong (try manually re-entering it and/or copy/pasting it if you have it saved somewhere else... or even have it changed).

However, this could also be caused by a server requiring an identd response that your not sending.

If you have access to change the password yourself, try that (try something simple as its also possible that the server does not support unusual characters in passwords such as spaces and uncommon punctuation)
