Exclamation Removing _vti_cnf files from server!

I made the mistake of using Frontpage to build my websites - my server is now full and I need to free up some files to make some space! I need to remove all of the Frontpage rubbish that is on my server now...

I was impressed with the option to find and replace certain folders on my server - this saved me hours of work recently when I needed to replace all of my "vars.inc" files..

Anyway - I can find all of the offending "_vti_cnf" files but cannot delete them as they are not empty! wondering if there is a way of deleting these files in this way even though they are not empty?

I know all of you clever people out there can help me out so Thanks in advance.....

flashfxp can delete files from "find files on server"
why can't you delete them?

I spent all day yesterday deleting 600 of these files manually and its not over yet - still a whole load more to get rid of!

This is the error when I try to delete:

[R] PWD
[R] 257 "/" is current directory.
[R] RMD /E-Lottery VWD/_vti_cnf
[R] 550 /E-Lottery VWD/_vti_cnf: Directory not empty

Any Ideas?

make sure that on config screen, General->Options, "Only delete top-level FTP folders" is unchecked.
also those dirs might have hidden files, so make sure your list command has at least -a option.

Under "Advanced" - "Only delete top-level FTP folders" is unchecked but please elaborate on the List part of this (selective transfer do you mean?)

For example please tell me what I should put as a mask - you said "-a" but what else? do I include the "_vti_cnf" there too? and what about the Include - Exclude etc...

Sorry to appear dim but i would like to be certain before I commit this change to my site - dont want to make any costly mistakes in haste as the next site I want to remove these files from is my main commercial site: www.day-you-were-born.co.uk and any downtime there would cost me dearly...

Maybe a screenshot will not only help me but others in my position.

Cheers - Nik.

This is a bit of a catch22.. The delete operations in the ftp file search will only delete the selected entries and will not do any recursive deleting. Unfortunately most ftp servers will not allow you to delete a non-empty folder.

The option mentioned by MxxCon doesn't apply to the ftp file search.
