File upload restarting from scratch instead of resuming

Using FlashFXP 4.3.1 b1951 on windows XP SP3, one of my upload restarted from scratch instead of resuming it.

The upload was really slow and not that stable(my router indicated very high latency from time to time, as much as 4 sec) since I had torrents open at the same time which were eating 2/3rd of my upload bandwidth.

Thank you for your bug report and for the session log, from the session log I can see why the file restarted instead of resumed. It appears that the reply from the server was delayed long enough to cause the command / reply sequence to become skewed.

This resulted in the noop reply to be interrupted as the reply from the SIZE command when the SIZE command failed FlashFXP attempted to refresh the directory to obtain the file size from the directory listing, the first listing failed and the second succeeded.

I am not entirely sure why the REST command wasn't sent, it could be that the server didn't return the file size in the file listing or after the series of failures the logic failed to handle the resume.

I am in the process of trying to reproduce the issue to determine exactly why it didn't resume and due to the complex nature of the failure its quite difficult to simulate.

Unzip the flashfxp.exe into your FlashFXP program folder.

I haven't had any problem with the 1.5GB I uploaded so far with the dev build so that's a good sign.

I haven't had any other restarting upload problem, but I noticed that you seem to have "solved" the problem by making the file fail and then skip to the next one. It would be better if it kept trying the same file since I sometime queue different uploads and would prefer that the first one finishes before starting the second one, but it's an acceptable solution and certainly better than the alternative.

But this brought up another problem: When there's only one file left to transfer and it fails, FlashFXP will stop transfering and try to close itself(because I have the exit after transfering(don't remember the exact name and can't check it right now) option enabled). This mean that to finish the transfer, I have to cancel the message box that say's if I want to exit with a non-empty queue and then resume the transfer.

I don't know if you want me to create a separate bug report for this issue or if you need a log for it.

Do you have the following setting checked?

Options > Preferences Dialog > Select the Transfer section > Under Retry Failed Transfers > [ ] Move to the bottom of queue before retrying

If this isn't checked then the transfer should be immediately retried rather than retrying it later.

The other values directly below determine how many times the failed transfer is retried. If the queue is triggering as complete and prompting to exit but you still have the failed transfer in your queue perhaps the max retry limit was reached?

A copy of the session log would be extremely helpful.

I don't have that setting checked since I wanted them to upload in the right order.

The max retries for failed transfer is set to either 99 or 199 and it never failed even close to that many times, I checked.

I'll get you a log as soon as I can(I'm at work right now).

I found the problem.

When a transfer stall or loss of connection triggers a transfer failure the retry count is ignored and the file is immediately marked as failed.

This update should correct the problem

This update also includes a couple other minor fixes.

1. Fixed: Synchronized browsing between two local browsers.
2. Fixed: Connecting to a pre-existing quick connect history item now correctly moves the entry to the top of the history list.
3. Changed: The "Keyboard: Enter Key" action "execute file" in the scope of the local file browser now supports multiple selection.

Nice, because I apparently didn't save any log where this happened or I can't find them since I was pretty sure I did.

I'll test it and let you know.

There's an issue with the build I provided and it will continue to prompt for your license key after a validation check.

The problem was with the zip packaging app, it wasn't properly submitting the flashfxp.exe hash to our server for validation.

Had some trouble with the ftp server so it took longer than expected to test, but everything is fine now.

They all uploaded in the right order and never restarted even though it failed and disconnected a few times.

The failing of the last file making it quit must have been a coincidence since I noticed that my session retry was only set to 10 and that was most likely what happened so sorry about that.

I activated session logging so I won't be forgetting to save it anymore in the future.
