no notification of invalid default download directory

i had typed "C:temp\" instead of "C:\temp\" as the default download directory, and it wasn't working (as it shouldn't), but was sending me to my user's home directory (an elegant fallback). However, some sort of notification that the default download directory doesn't exist and that i was being sent to my home directory, or some sort of check when i'm setting the default download directory would have been nice.

This is the intended behavior.

However perhaps we can add some type of validation on input as well. I will look into this.
