UTF8 support is imperfect

In the Flashfxp 4.0 rc3 1499
the UTF8 support is imperfect

test:
download the test file in a directory
e.g. d:\test
http://hotfile.com/dl/83461843/ee4b0..._test.rar.html
or
http://rapidshare.com/files/431718008/ftp_utf8_test.rar

then,unrar it
e.g.d:\test\ftp_utf8_test
upload all file in the folder to a ftp serrver
(test server is Serv-U FTP Server 9.4)

some file cannot uploaded.

but FTPRush 1.1.219 can work properly
both SmartFTP 4.0 1145 and CrossFTP 1.65a are all-ok

the above test it also verified in Gene6 FTP Server 3.10.0.2

This should NOT be a medium bug, I have to upload a lot of files with Japanese/some other UTF-8 only character sets. And flashfxp breaks HARD. ("normal" UTF-8 characters like ÿ get handled correctly, but something like "恋いしくて" breaks Local AND Remote file views (can't even enter a local folder with such characters in them!).

This is a known issue. UTF8 support is limited in FlashFXP.

You might try adjusting the character encoding option in the Site Manager, for some languages this can sometimes improve the compatibility.

And what if that doesn't help? How does closing the bug help us paying users from the fact that UTF-8 support is badly broken?

We've tried to make it as clear as possible that the current version of FlashFXP has limited UTF-8 support. This is because FlashFXP uses ansi strings and not unicode and the display controls are not unicode aware.

Our intent is to offer full UTF-8 support in the future, however we do not have a specific timeframe for providing support.

The process is quite complex and we're still in the early stages of determining the best route to provide UTF-8 support.
