Flash Fxp - slow?
Was playing around with a new ftp client (FTPRush) and noticed quite a difference in speeds on my local network here at home.
What could be causing such a big difference? Is ther some settings to change or something perhaps? :cool: FTPRush: local transfer : comp1 ---> server [i] Transfered 1 file(s) - Total: 698,9 M byte(s) in 72,14 (10_158,38 KBps) [i] Transfer queue complete local transfer : server ---> comp1 [i] Transfered 1 file(s) - Total: 698,9 M byte(s) in 88,88 (8_245,69 KBps) [i] Transfer queue complete ------------------------------------------------------- FlashFXP 3 1014 local transfer : comp1 ---> server Transfer queue completed Transferred 1 file totaling 698,89 MB in 1 minutes 56 seconds (6_180,3 KB/s) local transfer : server ---> comp1 Transfer queue completed Transferred 1 file totaling 698,89 MB in 1 minutes 37 seconds (7_368,4 KB/s) |
When it comes to transfer speeds everyone seems to get different results. There are many factors that can effect the transfer speed.
You might be able to improve the upload speed by adjusting the Upload packet size (preferences > advanced tab), usually 8192 provides the best results. On my local 100mbit network I get the following results <<Download>> Transferred: battlefield_1942_patch_v1[1].6.19.exe 280,829,212 bytes in 24.50 seconds (11,193.8 KB/s) <<Upload>> Transferred: battlefield_1942_patch_v1[1].6.19.exe 280,829,212 bytes in 25.11 seconds (10,922.3 KB/s) FlashFXP can achieve even better transfer rates when utilizing a faster network like 400mbit or 1gbit. |
Yeah, a big difference in upload speed but still about the same download speed though :)
comp1 ---> server: (upload) Transferred 1 file totaling 698,89 MB in 1 minutes 13 seconds (9_845,8 KB/s) server ---> comp1 (download) Transferred 1 file totaling 698,89 MB in 1 minutes 32 seconds (7_755,2 KB/s) |
djrob, you should get numbers from the server since ffxp and ffxp-ripoff;) could calculate numbers differently. one could start counting from the begining of actual data transfer, which other could start counting when you click "transfer" button which would include time for a few commands and possible file allocation.
trasnfer numbers from the server will be more accurate becuase in both cases server will calculate them the same way |
