On that account, instsrv and srvany is also free, and working just as well, but requires a little more knowledge than just using a pre-made package with a readme.txt

ppl prefer easy stuff i'd guess. like gui.

someone will probably rls a gui service installer for io that will be very popular.

hi guys perhaps this tut io-as-a-service can be needed

Installation:
  • -> Copy INSTSRV.EXE to you system32 directory
    -> Copy SRVANY.EXE to your system and install it as a Service eg: INSTSRV ioFTPD c:\tools\srvany.exe
    -> configure via the Services applet:
    ... ioFTPD as automatic
    ... the account for the service
    -> some more settings todo:
    ... goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ioFTPD
    ... create a key PARAMETERS
    ... in there create a Reg_DZ named "Application" (without quotes) and set the full path of the ioFTPD.exe. (eg: c:\ioFTPD\system\ioFTPD.exe)

Deinstall:
INSTSRV ioFTPD remove
Attached Files
File Type: rar instsrv.rar (13.3 KB, 193 views)

ioftpd starts as a service but Eggdrop.exe does not start

need a quick fix.. on what i should do...
running XP SP1 allupdates...as if it matters

could it be the parameter=-nt setting under the eggdrop?

Should work fine, check that in your eggdrop.conf you have

set userfile-perm 0666

Since eggdrop sets the permissions of user/chan files.

Code:
# This specifies what permissions the user, channel, and notes files should
# be set to. The octal values are the same as for the chmod system command.
#
# To remind you:
#
#          u  g  o           u  g  o           u  g  o
#    0600  rw-------   0400  r--------   0200  -w-------    u - user
#    0660  rw-rw----   0440  r--r-----   0220  -w--w----    g - group
#    0666  rw-rw-rw-   0444  r--r--r--   0222  -w--w--w-    o - others
#
set userfile-perm 0666
Since a service runs under "SYSTEM" you should use 0666 so both you and the service can access it, if the eggdrop cannot access the userfile it just exits.

Nice script, but I got a damn problem

The installation and uninstallation works like charm...but starting io as a service is not possible...and I get a system error: 1069.

Maybe someone can tell me what it is.

I'm using ioftpt (latest version) with ssl.

Maybe I entered the wrong:

username=xXxXx
password=xXxXx

^^I don't really know the correct user/pass.

account for your service (Administrator rights!) or blank for system account
Can anybody tell me what do you mean by account for my service?

Thx in advance

NeoXed, I changed what you said above so that my eggy config file has 0666.

I put in eggdrop in my ioservice.ini and it runs eggdrop but then the bot crashes almost instantly. ioftpd runs fine with it though.

Id like to find a way to get eggdrop to run as a service, tried everything hah. I hope theirs a way to get it to run with ioservice still. heres what the ioservice ini looks like that i tried>

[PROGRAMMSTART1]
filename=c:\ioftpd\system\ioftpd.exe
parameter=

[PROGRAMMSTART2]
filename=c:\ioftpd\windrop\eggdrop.exe
parameter=-nt eggdrop.conf

also tried with space added like this (parameter= -nt eggdrop.conf)

and parameter= -nt + parameter=-nt

nothing seems to run it

i have the same problem. ioFTPD starts without problems but windrop (eggdrop) will not start at all. When i start eggdrop manual it starts. Someone know any answer ?

There are nowhere any error messages. no in windowslogs and not in eggdrop logs.

Please someone know a answer.

Thx for your help.

Thx to alturismo he gave me the solution.

We must start the bot first manualy after whe added:

Quote:
set userfile-perm 0666
rehash once

and then when we install eggdrop as service it starts

Very thanks to alturismo again.

Default hmmm

ok well so far my bot doesnt start as a system service
i did however do this
i edited the eggdrop.config
to read "set userfile-perm 0666" was set as "set userfile-perm 0600"

i also rehashed my ioftpd config file
but i did not rerun my RunOnce.bat for the windrop
to rehash it..... should i?

and my ioservice.ini is set as
# Programm Configuration
# ======================
# Please setup your paths and parameter!

[PROGRAMMSTART1]
filename=C:\ioftpd\system\ioFTPD.exe
parameter=

[PROGRAMMSTART2]
filename=C:\ioftpd\windrop\eggdrop.exe
parameter=-nt

hmm but it still isnt starting as system service...
and ideas?
