Stand Alone IRCd companion 4 ioFTPD !?
i have found this project called "Smart IRCd" or SIRCD here:
SIRCD 0.5.2
1. This IRCd is really smart and tiny (only 64 Ko)
2. It's SSL ready !
3. It's MultiOS (Windows, Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD)
4. The project seems to be discontinued since 2 May 2003.
5. And the whole source code is available !
Why not trying to continue and plug this fine prog to ioFTPD (exe dll...) !?

ioFTPD does not need a built-in IRCD.
The built in services for ioFTPD are to ease administration (Telnet and HTTP). How would implementing a IRCD into ioFTPD help administration in a professional manner (eg. non-warez related)? Sounds highly unnecessary imo.

Of course ioFTPD is only used in a professionnal manner lol.....
NeoXed, you don't have read correctly my suggestion. I speak about a "PLUG-IN" addon not "BUILD IN" !
Companies, professionnal..tsssss. Well in this way we can remove ioBanana, VFS checker, Trial, nfo, IMDB and all warez related stuff !? don't you think !?

I never said that now did I? But if you kept up to date on the forums, darkone's intent is to try and get ioFTPD ready for a more professional enviroment.

Well to be honest, your original post was unclear and poorly worded. Try being more dessisive before posting an idea. Especially the phrase "plug this fine prog to ioFTPD", what exactly does that mean? Using ioFTPD's modules or just a stand-alone script?

In case you hadn't noticed those are scripts, they are not included with the ioFTPD package nor are you forced to use them. Any FTPD can be used for "warez" or legimate purposes depending on the functionality of the FTPD.

IMO a built in ircd woudl slow it down. and is very much a bad idea.
Just use UnrealIRCD with epona, its free and theres win32 conversions knocking around. Used to use it on a small net and its stable as as long as loads dont get too high, can easy handly ~1000 users which should be more than enuff for your needs.

Porting complete iRCd as native ioFTPD module sounds like a project that would take years to complete. This is a project that is definately not worth the time

Ok well sorry, my english spoken really SUX !!
My suggestion is to (re)use the source code from SIRCD (with permissions of course) and update this one to made a STAND ALONE IRCd Script (NOT BUILD IN of course). Someone say use UnrealIRCd i know it.... but it not at all the same product SIRCD is really really tiny and Smart (like ioFTPD is) ! that's all

Yes of course i'm totaly agree with you d1 (tones of work sure), but SIRCD already work and his source code, documentation is available ! I m not coder, but i think it's not impossible for another coder to update and modify SIRCD to work better with ioFTPD (add Script, use MS Schannel despite of OpenSSL, etc...) Anyway... if every body think this idea is bad, forget it !!!

what exactly do u expect from an integration of ftpd and ircd ?
like: users can only login in the site if they are on that irc server ?
(i can't think of much more)
