Default Shared Userdb

Was wondering if this option would be implemented soon?

or is it on the todolist already?

is kinda handy to safe userdb in mysql or some.. easier to backup and maybe safer..

Edit by NeoXed: Merged a few related threads.

hey,

I wrote an addon similar to this for servu, it works by handling all accounts through a shared mysql DB. I could do it in ioFTPD also but i'm not sure if ioFTPD allows you to deny a user from logging in and letting the addon take control over the login process. So like you would add all the users in the DB along with their passwords, ips etc etc... and it would get verified by this addon and passed on to ioFTPD, Correct me if I'm wrong ?

later,

You're wrong... via user & group modules, you have full control over users & groups.

If there's something I've been waiting for, it's shared userdb. Haven't heard anything about any progress on this either :\

Both are active in the latest version & getproc is fully functional.

It's not because it's possible that it's done, or even easy.

Would take a lot of coding from a skilled C coder to make a user/groups module. I don't know anyone who's planning to make one atm. Anyone ?

Yep, writing robust network code isn't that simple, and when writing code for multithreaded environment, there's lots of small things you need to take in account - simple glitch, and whole process goes boom.

I might write AD module myself, but other databases you'll just need to do "yourself".
