to this:

STORAGE\

apps

mac
microsoft
movies_dvdr
movies_dvdrips
movies_imax
music
palm
rips
tw_tools

Where there are not dupe listings of the actual dir name.

Just a wish list (IF) it can be done...

These are per drive (22 single dir storage drives) spanning dir's - not spanning on a single drive.

Great if it can be done...

My vfs file

"c:\ioFTPD\site" /
"e:\uploads" /uploads
"n:\theater" /theater
"c:\storage" /storage
"d:\storage" /storage ex: apps
"f:\storage" /storage ex: apps
"g:\storage" /storage ex: apps
"h:\storage" /storage
"i:\storage" /storage
"j:\storage" /storage
"k:\storage" /storage
"l:\storage" /storage
"m:\storage" /storage
"o:\storage" /storage
"p:\storage" /storage
"q:\storage" /storage
"r:\storage" /storage
"s:\storage" /storage
"t:\storage" /storage
"u:\storage" /storage
"v:\storage" /storage
"w:\storage" /storage
"x:\storage" /storage
"y:\storage" /storage
"z:\storage" /storage

Where the 3 apps on 3 drives can be listed as 1 "APPS" and not 3 apps, or am I doing something wrong here?

Glad of this more private area as I would not list this in the more open public areas...

Maybe there should be a TECH forum here now as others may now ask more open questions now that we are a little more secure.

for the duplicates dirs, specify the complete path to those dirs...

"d:\storage\apps" /storage/apps
"f:\storage\apps" /storage/apps
"g:\storage\apps" /storage/apps

Note that writing in this dir /storage/apps isn't supported... (read 'will half-work')

If u have other sections on those drive, just specify them too...

"d:\storage\games" /storage/games
"f:\storage\dox" /storage/dox
...

the rest of the drives on which u don't have duplicates can stay as they are now.

I used to link multiple physical paths to same VFS path on a couple of my sites but found 1 major problem with it.
ioA doesnlt seem to like it, so a lot of ioA commands wont work. ie, cant nuke/unnuke and cant wipe.
Or at least they didn't back with version 0.7.8, dunno if thats been changed by now.

ioA commands still and will never support that type of raiding since ioFTPD gives me the path and that path might not be the actual one so its impossible to know where its actually is stored. Its the same with any script that uses physical paths from enviromentvariables

Thanks WarC, as I had the same issue on a site...
So I will have to see how I can sort this thing somehow differently...

Its easy
/SOFTWAREIOWNLICENCETOHONEST/
/SOFTWAREIOWNLICENCETOHONEST/[ARCHIVE]

Archive dir you shouldn't need nuke/unnuke/wipe so you can span drives on same path
Thats what I did anyways.

alternately, you could software raid your hard drives. I did that in my system. Just converted two drives to dynamic and striped them

been there, done that..lost the entire stripe and the recover
floppies only work when they decide it's not to hard to handle.

picked up pro100 hardware raid 5 cards - fried them, dam idiot
arc welder was in doing some racks and took all the servers in
one swift move...

But for home use, the tx raid cards are cheap enough and I'd
rather use them for even JOBD over leaving MS do the software
stripe.

But that is me.
