ioFTPd crashing
Hi all. Recently I've had ioFTPd crash on me incessently. It doesn't appear to have any pattern to it, they are just random. Sometimes it crashes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 90. With people downloading, and without.
Have tried the drwtsn32.exe tips but no crash log is created by it. I have read the ioftpd crash long and the most recent problems are -
Unhandled exception 3221225477 at address 0x004084e4 (0x00000000)
0x00000000 0x00000091
I am at my wits end and hope someone here can help!
Running 5-8-5-r, on a Windows 2003 machine with SP1 installed.

Ah yes, that would come in handy!
ioZS, bquota/btrial, ioA, WarChive, newdir, iojinvite and stormapprove. Also running a windrop with dzsBot installed. Hope this helps somewhat!

The method I normally use to troubleshoot, before restarting the ftp check the logs, see what was happening at the time it crashed.
Check the event that runs at that time and see what scripts are running from it. Disable them 1 by one until it stops occuring.
If you cant find a common event just disable all scripts completely 1 by 1. A much more laborious process obviously so best avoided where method 1 can be used.
There you will have which script is causing it.
Check the config of that 1, make sure all is well, if its still occurring re-install completely / look for another script that does the same thing.

download neoxed`s nxiofilecheck tool from the scripts page, use it. this is more than likely the 4k+ .ioFTPD file bug
also, you mention your running a registered version, although your forum info doesnt confirm this

Unhandled exception 3221225477 at address 0x004084e4 (0x00000000)
Well this is in hex: 3221225477 = C0000005 (maybe a well know adress for some people).
0x004084e4 says the crash occurs in io itself
0x00000000 says it is with a null pointer.
Likely the .ioFTPD bug indeed

Thanks for all the help guys! I think I fixed that problem, as well as a couple more, but I still have a few exceptions, albeit not that often occuring, that I hope you can help me with -

Unhandled exception 3221225477 at address 0x0040c081 (0x00000000)
0x00000000 0x00000900
Unhandled exception 3221225477 at address 0x0040c081 (0x00000000)
0x00000000 0x00000720
Unhandled exception 3221225477 at address 0x0040c081 (0x00000000)
0x00000000 0x00000360
Unhandled exception 3221225477 at address 0x004080ad (0x00000000)

Those also look like ioftpd itself. I hope you didnt fiddle by hand in some user/group files or deleted/added some user/group files. This can cause some crashes as well if you are not doing it properly, and most people dont do it properly because they dont understand that the Groups, Users, GroupIDTable, UserIDTable have to updated together (with no io running). Next to that, delete all your .ioFTPD files and check again.

I've not altered the files manually, used the site commands to do it (deluser etc). I'll re-delete all the .ioftpd files and hope it helps!
