ftp operations stop while using the connect menu

Let's say you are in the process of connecting to a site in one pane and in the other pane you are using the connect menu to find the other site to connect to, the ftp operations stop.

If the last command on the right pane was "USER test" and you click the connect menu on the left pane to find the secondary remote site to connect to, the "PASS (hidden)" will not happen until you actually select a site from the connect menu or get out of the connect menu.

Would be much more efficient to continue operations during this time if possible.
