Default Advanced search

In my opinion search (ctrl+f) must be improved because is too simple and useless for real work...

An idea about search:

an example:
dir listing
folder1.description.Here
folder2.description.Here
folder3.desc.here

User will be able to search for "fol 3 here" and will return "folder3.desc.here". (search string doesnt need to match exactly)

Also, would be perfect if regular expression could be suppported ,or at least wild-characters (*, dot etc)

Great suggestion. Regex support for both ctrl+f local search AND the 'find files on ftp server' would be very nice.

Also, another suggestion for the 'find files on ftp server'... FlashFXP should remember your preferences in the 'advanced' tab.. or a button or something to set certain settings as default would be nice.

i think for ctrl-f regex is overkill
however for site seach and filters regex would be useful

And some more suggestion:

- Add option to "find files on ftp server" --> how deep to search

- Is possible to make search NOT match exactly a filename to find it?
(ex. i want to find an ebook with "linux" and "drivers" but i dont remember exactly the filename to my ebook dir. )
This is very practical i think.

Just like Windows search

I'll add * and ? support to find, so it will function the same as most other features (i.e. mask select, ftp search)

I guess i agree, i doubt i would ever use it there, it wouldn't even be worth the time to enter the regex correctly for a folder your already looking in. But regex for the find files would be useful.

This option already exists, check the 'Advanced' tab in the find files dialog. The option is called 'Search Depth'.

I believe it would be nice to have auto-reconnect feature (possibly with timings and retry counts) in "find files on FTP server". Or, else, think about having "find" task as just a usual queue task with a result cashed in a file?

Are you referring to the connect prompt you get when the connection is lost during a ftp search?

This was a quick solution to solve the issue. I plan on expanding on this idea quite a bit over the next couple versions.

One more idea:

Is possible "key1*key2*" return the same results with "key2*key1*" ? (at least an option to bypass word order...)
I think it would be really usefull

You can You can use ; to seperate two multiple patterns i.e. key1*;key2*

it will match key1* OR key2*

maybe do key1*key2*;key2*key1*

Well, actually I use 3.1.12 build 1075, and didn't see any prompts when got disconnected by remote ftp server (i hit the server's time limit) during the "find" operation. I just had to reconnect and continue the search manually. I think it would be more convenient to automate this: just set the file search criteria, ftp server(s) to connect with (e.g. from site manager), and have this task in the queue window as a download task with all the automatic features there.
