Maybe a feture that tells about server?

maybe such easy features as OS Type
and....

space on server
space left on server
how fast download speed is
how fast uplaod speed is
fxp able
deleteable
nondeleteable
list
non-list

Some of these suggestions are already made available on many servers, glFtpd for one. Makes me wonder what type of servers and OS you're used to connecting to.

Well i connect to alot of servers and upload graphics and such. i do not need all those features but it is just a suggestion!

Well, generally, Windows-based servers are short on such info, which led me to think you're maybe mostly used to such servers.

yes, unix has several ways to do this. Like I said, glFtpd servers can easily be configured to show much, if not all of the info you seek, such as in the status-line when you do a cwd, the status-message shown on login/logout etc. unix-based servers are easy to configure.

there's no easy and strait way of telling that.
usualy site will tell such info in it's welcome message.
also you can get some info using SITE commands.
type of OS or rather type of ftp server can be determined by SYST command.
