OK I just hooked my xbox straight to comp through ethernet (I only have one ethernet plugin in the back of my pc, so I my cable modem was not hooked up and running) And it says no link.

I hook the xbox straight to the Cable modem, I get an ip, try to connect, but it wont connect. (Note, there was then nothing plugged into the back of the PC)

So the only thing that is letting me connect is Xbox to hub, Pc to Hub, Cable modem to uplink of Hub.

So I dont know if I hooked them up wrong or my system is messed up.

You just said two very different things. The one that stands out specifically is "I hook the xbox straight to the Cable modem." If your modem is plugged into your xbox, then I don't know how you can hope to attempt to transfer files.

I was just trying, and I tried 2 different things.

I first tried hooking my box straight to the comp, but then my cable modem isnt on and i get no link

I then tried hooking my box to my cable modem, then I am not hooked up with my PC so i cannot connect.

you still haven't clarified to us if you are using a hub or a router, becuase there are 2 very different things and they work very differently.
when you connected pc to xbox directly, did you check if both pc and xbox had ip adresses on the same subnet, ie both had ip in this range 192.168.1.x
also, don't you need to use cross-link cable to connect pc to xbox directly without any routers or hubs?

Hi, I would like to contribute because I am having the same excruciatingly poor performance as Ryguy786. My setup is as follows:
(from internet side of things) :
comcast cable modem, DHCP, controlled by ISP
comcast Cable modem , 192.168.1.1 on LAN port
to
netgear firewall router, 192.168.1.2 on WAN port
netgear firewall router, 192.168.100.1 on LAN side - serving DHCP and as default gateway.
LAN port 1 - xbox at IP 192.168.100.13 configured from DHCP server
LAN port 2 - my PC, 192.168.100.12 configured from DHCP - running XPSP2 with all updates.
LAN port 3 - File server/ Domain server, assigned the DHCP address 192.168.100.11 by static entry in netgear router table.

All network communications work fine with the one exception of the transfer rate between the xbox and the PC. the reason I am doing this file transfer is even legitimate, I had to borrow someone elses' xbox dvd drive because mine died, and I replaced it with the help of a mod chip, with a less expensive drive but unfortunately the retail game dvd's wont play in that drive... so I am stuck with all night transfers just like Ryguy786.

please advise or ask if there is any more info you need to help diagnose this problem. I am fairly familiar with networking tools etc. just not FlashFXP.

<edited to remove the auto-smiley generated at the end of the "internet side of things " that had a colon before the close brace...>
<edited per the signature of the post DIRECTLY before mine, to include the requested info:>
version 2.1 build 924. logs not complete yet, ask again in a week or so <grin>

FlashFXP v2.1 has some transfer issues with xboxes, there's some tweaking and alot of trial and error to improve the speeds but the results are still lacking.

My suggestion would be to download FlashFXP v3 RC4
https://oss.azurewebsites.net/downloadv3.php

The default configuration of FlashFXP v3 should provide you with optimal speeds.
