Default DL gets different speed

Im having this strange problem.
When i download twice from same ftp site, the dl speeds are different.
Lets say im starting a download and im getting 70kb/s (maxed out)
and i start another download while im downloading at 70kb/s.
The strange thing is that the speed im getting with my second download is 5-10kb/s while the first one stays at 60-65kb/s.
Why is that so? shouldnt they be more the same? like 30-40 each?

This also happens with other ftp clients.
My firewall (zone alarm) has nothing to do with it.
im on cable connection 640/128
This didnt happen before i formated my pc.
Also tried with other sites and same thing happens there.

But while im downloading from http both speeds are going the same.

it "should" even out both connections..
no idea why it wouldn't
try to play around with upload buffer size, it might make a difference

this is actually normal behavior...same with http, ie downloads. Not sure of the technical answer behind it though
