Unhappy speed problem

Im running windows 2000 corp on a cable connection. When I connect to ftp sites my download speeds are like 1.56kbs -2.36kbs.
I have no problems downloading from web pages @ around 250kbs. Am I over looking a setting ? Is this a win2k setting issue? I have yet to find any information on win2k about any administration settings .

any help on this matter would be greatly appreciates.

thanks for any help.

what build are you running?
make sure you are using FlashFXP downloaded from offical website and not any other place.
do you have any firewalls?
you sure that those ftp sites can actualy send data faster than "2.36kbs"?

I'm using ver. 2 build 902.
No fire install as of yet ,and yes my brother has a ftp set up and was always getting right around 240kbs.
I've tried other ftp clients and still the same results.
It must be something with the OS but I cannot figure this out yet. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to the post.
Ill keep trying.
