Videos Launched inside FlashFXP is Broken
Actually this has been broken for a long time but I didn't realize it was broken within FlashFXP until today.
I usually have FlashFXP up as a directory browser and launcher. I would click and launch AVI or MPG or WMV files from my directory and the previous default app was WMP. It was working up until the some FlashFXP 4.0 beta and then I started getting errors that said "Server execution failed".
I thought WMP was broken but never bothered figuring out what and reset all of my AVI, MPG and WMV files to launch VLC which works just fine.
Today, I was using the normal Windows Explorer and browser and decided to try WMP again so I told it to launch an AVI using WMP and it worked just fine. If I go through FlashFXP and tell it to use the explorer menu and to use WMP to launch the exact same file, it'll generate the "Server execution failed" message so it appears to be something in the way FlashFXP is interacting with WMP?
I'm running Windows 7 and WMP 12.07601.17514 and FlashFXP 4.1.0 (build 1572).

In the local browser when right-click on a video file and select Explorer Menu > Play with windows media player it opens the video and starts playing without any issues.
This was tested on Windows 7 64bit and Windows 7 32bit.
When doing a google search for "Server execution failed" there's a lot of people who have this issue with windows media player in general, perhaps some of the suggestions offered might resolve it.
As far as I can tell this doesn't appear to be caused by FlashFXP.

That doesn't work in FlashFXP for me. If I use the normal Windows Explorer it works just fine with the same exact file so I know the file is good and WMP is good. I have this problem only when running/launching within FlashFXP.

This seems to be fixed with 4.1.0 (build 1588). The release notes doesn't mention anything that might indicate it fixes my problem, but it did .
Did you find something in FlashFXP that lead to the resolution or I got "lucky"?

Thats great news.
In the past few builds there were over 100 changes to the local browser components, not often but it does happen where fixing one issue resolves multiple. I suspect that is the case.

Thats very unexpected, nothing was changed with the local browser in build 1589 or 1590.

No luck with 1594, but I think I might have a little more information that hopefully might help.
Right now FlashFXP doesn't work with any video for me using WMP in the local browser so I've associated everything with VLC but I don't think that matters as it still shows the same problem if I associate it with WMP.
Anyway, I right-click on the file -> Explorer Menu -> Play with WMP. It'll open up WMP and then if I wait I get that Server Execution Error.
ETA: It doesn't put the file in the Unsaved List for some reason.
If I drag a that file out of FlashFXP's local browser into WMP's Unsaved List to Create a Playlist it plays just fine. (Library View)
If I use the Windows Explorer to launch that same file, it doesn't take me to that WMP Unsaved List it just launches the video. (Now Playing View I think).

My FFXP association for all video file types is to prompt to select program,,
Tested with 5 differnt video file types/containers vlc and wmp
Double click on files works
Right click FFXP menu select open works.
Right Click select explorer menu and open with works
Right Click select explorer menu and play works
I have found FFXP explorer bugs but whats described here no.

I have rewritten the local browser right-click menu code, this new code should hopefully resolve the issue. This change will be included in the next release.

Just to clarify it wasn't simply the right-click and then launch WMP that was a problem. I simply reassociated all video files to open with VLC since I got tired of the errors and I live with FlashFXP everyday. Since all my video files are defaulting to VLC now I had to use the right-click option to test each build of FlashFXP .
That said....no go with 1596 for me .
