Default About new update : build 1013

Hello,
after being alerted about this new version by flash fxp tonight, i install the version 1013.

First of all, the update pack wans't able to find my flash fxp version because i have installed it in c:\program files\flash fxp 3 instead of standard directory.

Maybe you can give the possibility to the user to indicate the location of flash fxp installation ?

Then,

FlashFXP v3.0 build 1013 [PUBLIC PREVIEW] RC 4
Online support forums http://forum.flashfxp.com
This preview release will expire on July 31, 2004

we are 23 of july so i suppose i will have to change again my flash fxp version in 1 week.

Finally, during the install, on the first screen, it's written build 1012 but it's just a detail.

edit : i have notice since flash fxp 3.0, my connection is satured when i download files, for exemple, it becomes harder to visit web pages because all my bandwith is used.
With version 2, this doesn't happens. (but, i agree, the download is more efficient with v 3.0)

The builds expire to force you to keep up to date. Despite Bigstar's best efforts, betas have bugs. Forcing users to keep up with current builds will save you problems in the long run, as running a buggy copy of FlashFXP will only cause problems. And the fact that it expires soon can only mean there's a new build coming sooner

To limit download or upload speeds:

Options --> Preferences (or F6)
go to the Transfer tab
check off "Obey download speed limit" and set a max transfer speed (in kilobytes per second).
(you can do the same for upload speed limit)

I get the same problem when trying to use the "Check for New Version" feature built into Flash FXP Help.

It downloads fine, then says, "No previous Flash FXP v3.0 installation found."

I even went into my program folder, where it downloaded to, and ran the update there. It still gave me the error.

I am going to log into the portal and see if I can download the traditional way.

No worries.

FlashFXP is the best FTP client ever!

-Lance

EDIT:
I just went to the Portal and it has the same file. I think the problem lies within the directory in which you have FFXP installed.

I have version 3.0 installed into a directory called "FlashFXP"

I think the installer is looking for a "FlashFXP 3.0" folder.

I agree with, Sebpouet. Could there be an option to select the install directory or look for the flashfxp.exe within the folder that it is downloaded to.

Keep up the good work!

-Lance

this will be fixed in the next update. There is a glitch in the code that checks for previous installation.
