Default flash refuses to use PASV mode

Heres my setup
Site A: default settings
Site B: Alternate FXP down and up (to prevent PASV from EVER being used on site B)

Flash, though decides it wants to do pasv mode on site B no matter what when sending files to it. I have found no way to make it use PORT mode, it simply refuses to. It used to work, I had this same trouble in the earler 2.0 builds, my only soultion was to use quick connect to both sites manually, then flash would listen to me when I told it not to use pasv mode.

On another note, when i do a directory list, and a port or pasv fails, flash goes to other method, why does it not do this when a port/pasv command fail during fxp?

This was covered in another thread..

The problem is that the Alternative FXP captions are wrong.
It should read the following

[ ] Downloading (Not PASV)
[ ] Uploading (PASV)

Default similar problem with PASV

I'm trying 2.0 RC3 ... first of all, what's the deal with flashfxp and LeapFTP? Did you guys start with the same code base? This is definitely nicer though!... if only it worked.

I've had this problem before (with leapftp even!): it refuses to NOT use PASV mode, at least when doing a SOCKS5 connection. At least it connects and sends the socks login correctly though.. but then of course it insists on doing PASV before a LIST and it just dies. It doesn't matter if I disable it in prefs, for the site, or if I do quickconnect - it still refuses to stop this sillyness. Please tell me you can fix this - I can't use the program without it!

seepingin, you might try searching the msg board first

http://forum.flashfxp.com/showthread...ght=socks+pasv discusses the issue. Socks must use pasv...end of story.

Funny - cuz I've experienced exactly the opposite here... now, and 4 years ago with a different SOCKS server. We're running eBorder now. Check this out:

10. Will I need to run ftp in PASV mode? [Top]
FTP may experience problems, depending on the application and stack. Try running without PASV. If that does not work, try PASV.

From:
http://www.socks.nec.com/sockscapfaq.html

I say forget how it "should" be and let the user turn it off. Otherwise why have a checkbox? Is there a way to turn it off for debugging? It appears to be hard coded.

Oddly enough the closest I've come is using my old standby - SocksCap32 running LeapFTP, PASV=OFF. I at least get no error, though I still don't get a dir listing. If I turn PASV on, it dies as soon as PASV is issued.

---
I got the same thing to happen in FlashFXP - close, but no dir list:
[17:06:12] CWD /users/
[17:06:12] 250 CWD command successful.
[17:06:12] PWD
[17:06:12] 257 "/users" is current directory.
[17:06:12] TYPE A
[17:06:12] 200 Type set to A.
[17:06:12] PORT 129,212,1,191,5,149
[17:06:12] 200 PORT command successful.
[17:06:12] LIST -al
[17:06:13] 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list.
[17:06:13] 226 Transfer complete.
---

OH, forgot to mention. That link doesn't work, at least for me, but I'll search some more. If I use your link it says: You do not have permission to access this page.

This is a limitation in FlashFXP, we only support SOCKS5 w/ PASV mode.

I'm not clear as to what your question is, based on your latest reply.

Not really a question, though it's good to know I'm not freaking out. But I guess now, it's a request: ability to disable PASV regarless of proxy setting!

Well if passive mode was disabled the connection would bypass the proxy server completely.

Well all I have to say is that it works. I haven't looked up what PASV does in a while - but it's always screwed me up. And until I tried AbsoluteFTP and plugged in the SOCKS5 IP, port, and login - I wasn't able to get out of my corporation. So right or wrong, it works. I honestly thing eBorder's SOCKS server might be a little screwey too, but oh well. I can't change that.

I'd love to use FlashFXP but I guess it'll just have to pass!

If you're behind a firewall then it would seem very strange for it to work. PORT mode it supported by SOCKS5, however it's not supported by FlashFXP. We hope to support it in future versions.

PASV is an outgoing connection to the ftp server
PORT is an incoming connection
