Default Flash FXP Slows Down To Almost a Halt on Large File Transfers. Also Hogs CPU

When i use the latest version of flashfxp to upload a 600mg file on a very fast FTP, after about 30 seconds flash fxp starts to take around 95% cpu and also starts to slow down ALOT. At one point it was lagging sop bad that it took 5 minutes just to draw the flashfxp gui.

I am on a fresh install of Windows XP sp2 and i also tryed uploading to a few different FTP's.

It does this on 2 of my computers.

It works fine if i upload using cuteftp.

* FlashFXP v3.0.2 build 1045, registered
* OS: WinXP SP2.
* Running behind NAT/router: Yes Netgear WGT624
* Running firewall: Yes, ZoneAlarm Security Suit v5.5.062.004
* Running Antivirus: Yes, Kaspersky
* Network: CABLE

* FTP server(s) : ProFTPD, PureFTPd, Any others i have tryed.
FTP Log:
I cannot get an ftp log since it freeze me to the point where i have to ctrl alt del and kill the process.

Basicly, it will upload. It will start at like 80kb/s and stay they way for a little while. Then all of a sudden it will rocket up to 300kb/s. I don't think my connection can even go that high. I also tryed putting a limit on it from the flashFXP options, and it still seemed to go higher then the flash fxp limit. Went to about 300kb/s again and froze. It does this on all 3 of my computers running Windows XP SP2.

do those other computers use ZoneAlarm too?
if so, try to temporary uninstall(disabling is not enough) it and see if that makes any difference.

it's obvious, but have you tried redownloading flashfxp from https://oss.azurewebsites.net/download.php and installing it to a new dir?
just to eliminate the possibility that your copy is somehow got corrupted.

is it only when you upload large files?
or small files too?
what about download?
when you say ffxp starts to take up 95% of cpu, did you confirm it with task manager that flashfxp.exe process is doing this, or just assumed becuase system was slow?
have you tried disabling your antivirus?
what other software you have running when that happen?

ZoneAlarm has been known to slow down and makes internet applications work harder. ZoneAlarm may be causing your unusually high cpu usage with FlashFXP during upload.

Disabling ZoneAlarm isn't a good test, Either test FlashFXP on a machine without ZoneAlarm or uninstall ZoneAlarm.

I have tested it on a machine that has no zone alarm on it at all. I think it may be a problem with my ISP and flashfxp somehow. I tryed it on a regular windows 2000 machine and it did the same. I have no clue how it can be related to my ISP, but that seems to be the only explainable way.

don't see any way for an ISP to affect cpu usage on your local machine

I am not going to ask what or where you are downloading/from...

But, have you tried from a stable public server ? To at least test if you are getting constant speeds their?

Also is it possible to try without the router ? or is that how the net goes...

Do you have any specific settings in FFXP for your router?

Default i have the same problem

* FlashFXP v[ 3].[ 02], build [ 1045], unregistered
* Win2K
* NAT Model: NetGear wgr614 v4
* Running firewall: Norton Internet Security 2002
* Running Antivirus Norton Antivirus 2003
* Network: College lan line

I have the same exact problem when i ftp files from xbox to pc, the small files are fine along with sending them from pc to xbox, but the large files start out fast and become very slow taking up 100 percent of my cpu (1.7ghz p4 with 785ram). Ocassionally there it disconnects when switching to transfer the next file after sending a large file (by large i mean 100meg plus)

Also i cant seem to figure out how to make the flashfxp open with the local browser on automatically, is this possible?

edit: also flashfxp randomly restarts my computer and when this happens the operating system gets corrupted (i know it isnt a virus because i have scanned numerous times and have had it happen to a fresh install of everything)
