Default location for files

In the documentation it gives the registry location to make the change. I did that and then when I started ffxp, it acted like it was the first run, ask for key, etc. and it changed the registry back??

I want to put all the files in a good location for backup. not one of those crazy M$ locations like: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FlashFXP\4

The best way to set the data folder location is during the FlashFXP installation.

Attempting to do it via the registry can be rather difficult depending on the version of Windows and you also need to make sure that your user account has read and write access to the new location.

Default location of fqf and other data files

I am happy with the installation location for the programs. I don't care about backing that up.

I need to backup my queues and sites, etc. That is in the windows temp location

Yes, I am referring to these data files, as this is configurable as part of selecting a custom setup during the installation process.
