Default FlashFXP package (for linux)

Hi.
I've created FlashFXP package for Ubuntu Edgy and I was wondering if I can post it here on this forum or post a link.

Technically it's a wine and flashfxp base files binded together in one package. Something like google's Picassa for linux. It doesn't contains any registration keys.

package only for edgy is a pretty limited number of users.
maybe it would be better if you provide instructions how you got it to work so users of other distros can benefit from it too?

At the moment ubuntu is a most popular distro. So, I think package for edgy covers bigest group of linux users. Anyway I've created mandriva package too.

They can be downloaded here:
RPM
http://www.mandrivalinux.eu/downloads.php?do=file&id=8
DEB
http://www.mandrivalinux.eu/downloads.php?do=file&id=7

User will need a product key instantly, cause test period expired long time ago.
----------------------------------------

And about instructions.... uhm... well....
First, I forgot to mention that its a ffxp 2.1.924.
I've no access to versions between 2.1.924 and 3.4 to check which version works. If inicom will provide me such access I can test them for free and make package with more recent version.
So like you see this package is nothing special. It just a wraped up wine around flashxfxp, few modification of Makefile file and one or two additionall files to add easy access to program from a KDE menu.
There is no any tricks it just all about knowledge how to compile and build a package.

UPDATE!
2007-05-22
  • Patched wine (with bugfix #5131) added into package.
  • FlashFXP 3.4.0 used (build 1145)
  • Licence agreement added
  • Minor attributes fix
  • Simple weekly backup added (into ~/.flashfxp directory)

Addons:
  • for KDE desktop shortcut run:
    Code:
    cp /opt/flashfxp/FlashFXP/FlashFXP\ 3.4.1145.desktop ~/Desktop/
  • Latest bookmarks, sites etc can be find in ~/.flashfxp/backupXY directory. XY stands for current week number. Every backup is made when FlashFXP starts.
  • It won't run if you running other wine app at the same time. To be more specific it won't run if other than /opt/flashfxp/bin/wine wine run. Sorry! I'll try to fix this in a next release.

While i do not particularly agree that ubuntu is the most popular linux dist at this time, i will certainly acknowledge its growing populatiry amung linux desktop dists.

Either way, this should be helpful for those that are unfamiliar or new to linux desktop dists and/or using wine. Although it doesnt really offer any advantages over compatibility or known issues or whatever with using flashfxp with wine, i see no harm in providing the link. Assuming the admin/devs here dont mind you distributing flashfxp in that way.

It's unregistered (trial) version so I can't see why anybody could have any problems with this.

And I getting informations that is impossible to register FF and that would be real problem. I was going to buy licence but now I'm unsure what to do. I just wonder if this people has "fake" product keys or there is some real registration problem....

Oh my ....
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy with XP in dual boot ! Will try this as soon as possible because it's one of the last soft I use Windows for !
Question : if I replace the flashfxp.exe, once installed, with a recent one (like beta one), will it work ?
Thanks for your work
