just curious if there is a way to incorpoate the svf checker into the flash so that it will check the rars as they are downloaded

thanks

That would be correct. I guess at best FFXP could include an option to start an external program to do the checking, but even that's a stretch.

Talking How about checking uploads?

what about checking files after you upload them or files already present on the server before downloading?

That's not all that different from what's already been discussed. The server does the checking, or the user, but the client itself isn't meant to do that.

Default Who Cares about Convention?

don't mean to be rude, but just because "traditional" FTP clients do not provide this function does not mean that it should not be done.

um, how do you see ftp CLIENT can check sfv of a file on a SERVER without having actual file?

many ftpd have builtin integrity checking. so even tho it's impossible to check a file w/o having actual file, it's not needed becuase ftpd can do it on it's own

If you have access to a file you can check it's CRC. It does not have to be local.

Lightbulb cSFVse...

cSFVse

Quote:

General information about cSFVse

This version of the the program, is supposed to be used with a ftp server..
checking uploaded files and generating progress info..

The SFV program calculate the CRC32 value of the file it´s checking
and verify´s it with the checksum written in the .sfv file..

Mathematically it can be proven that CRC32 catches all errors
below 33 bit and 99,99999998% of all errors above 32 bit.

Main Features

Can be started from a ftp-server (if the server support event execution)

Can monitor folders for write-access and queue the folder after a defined delay

Remembers the files that has been checked ok

Generates progress info, so ppl using the ftp quickly can see what´s missing ..

Ignore specific file-types and folders when scanning

Drop a nfo when the entire sfv file is ok

Execute a file when the entire sfv file is ok

Make "DiskSpace info" folders

"Announce to file" (mainly for use with G6Stats)

Program priority settings

Generate list of latest uploads

Can extract mp3 media info

what about the XCRC command that cuteftp pro v2 supports (globalscape ftp server & raidenftpd server support it)

it is useful when user is uploading or downloading any file without a SFV

stunna, why would you want a separate program for that...most servers have integrated integrity check...and if not, thats a function of the server, not the client. if you want something easy, put cfv on your server, make a command for it in glftpd and then you can just invoke it from flashfxp easily. What people are wanting in this thread is to crc check after you download something. again, i believe this is NOT a function of an ftp client. Install an sfv checker, and once you are all downloading, check them....its not hard. And checking after the download of each file would just make the whole process cludgy and slow....just my 2 cents

O, shiesse! yes, the thread did begin w/ talking about having FlashSFV check downloaded files. i don't think that FlashSFV should do that either. there are too many free external apps that do that already. it would really slow down the program.

i suggested having an option in FlashSFV to check files that are already present on the server or that have been uploaded by the user.

should be post #4 ^

Stunna, you are still asking that you, the client, be able to run FlashSFV locally and check files that are on the server, ie. remotely. That they were uploaded by you, the client, is irrelevant. See further explanations already given above.

I'm closing this thread now, as it's obviously only going in circles.
