Well, wasn't sure where to post this.

Created a small patch that makes eggdrop.exe invisible even when it's runned in -NT mode. (well, any mode)

Right now just the patch, if there's a request for it I'll post the reverse patch aswell.

Please note:
After running eggdrop.exe -nt you wont see anything.
It goes directly into invisible after execution.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Place the PATCH.EXE in the Windrop DIR.
Run the patch.exe.
A message box should appear telling if the patch was successful.

Simple as that.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure you guys tell me if you want a reverse patch to make eggdrop visible again. (good for error checking and such)

Here's the unpatch executable.

Probably good to post incase someone tries it and they don't like it.

The patcher and unpatcher zip file has been updated.

Tested on Eggdrop 1.6.10, 11, 12, 13 ,14, 15, so it should work now.

Tell me if there any problems.

That's great, just what i was looking for.

But before i could site exec my eggdrop from a batch through the ftpd.. (start hide.exe eggdrop.exe -nt eggdrop.conf) now i tried doing the same (start eggdrop.exe -nt eggdrop.conf) and my session freezes until the process is exited..(and it also dies when i use 'start' to call the exe, if i just use 'eggdrop.exe -nt eggdrop.conf' it still hangs the session but the bot runs).

What can i do to prevent the session freezing? Thank you.

got it to run via a .lnk, but the i can't telnet to the bot, for some reason it's not listening on the default port, instead it opens one port above default but when you connect nothing happens.

wtf?

anyone have another method hiding the console in -nt without using hidewndw since it's considered a pest and alot of anti-virus software shits when it sees it run.

nice idea but does this mean your patch
helps to hide the process in the windows
taskmanager as well?

i'm currently running firedaemon (http://www.firedaemon.com/) with the
server as well as the eggie and it working
out great.

the only downside is that the firedaemon
and the windrop processes are showing
up in the taskmanager which i dont want.

hackers are not supported in here.
no more mentions about hiding processes, renaming .exe or using path like c:\winnt\system32\lpt1\...

*edit:
thread (and users base) *moderated*! :)
