# MD5 checksums generated by MD5summer (http://www.md5summer.org)
# Generated 2004-12-31 8:22:39

There are the first two lines in the .md5 file, as you can see, generated by the md5summer, and it is displaying in FlashSFV 2.5 like this:

Normally a comments are prefixed with ";" FlashFSV is not aware of comments that start with "#"

I'm not sure if "#" is also considered a standard for comments, I'll have to look into this. If a filename were to start with "#" it would be ignored and that's not good.

I see, understanding your concern now.
The SFV file format is different from the MD5 format.
Thus it is possible for a "#" to be a preceding character for comments in MD5, while there would be a trouble if a file starting with # in SFV file.

:( But on the other hand, if a file starts with a ";", I found FlashSFV will just ignore it.

um, as far as i know .md5 file format isn't support to have any comments at all.
it's format is
<hash><space><filename>

this is the 1st time that i see any app put comments in those files:eek:

:) I have just come out with an idea. Don't know if Big Star would check the possibility to implement this:

As the file system in windows does not permit / , those line starts with "//" is considered as comment.

but .sfv and .md5 are not only in windows
they are platform independent formats...
