Thanks a lot for fixing the MD5-bug.
Creating and verifying MD5 is now allready fine.
Good job done ;)

Do you think maybe you can add a certificate feature to the options where it creates a file/dir when an sfv is complete?

example: --100%.All.Files.Complete--

That could be nice. Or maybe like this.

-[100%]--[All-files-CRC-OK]--[xx-files]-

Or how about, you can set what it looks like in the options, and then everyone doesn't post with how it should look! :)

Great little proggie, just found out that it says "remeber" in options in stead of "remember" I know its trivial, but hey.....

Good luck!

waouh FlashSFV is the best!

I had previously been using FashSFV 2.0f.

The interface of FashSFV 2.0f seems superior to the interface of FashSFV 2.5. The newer interface takes much more screen area for the display of the contents of an SFV file. An option member to "Options" to remove the gridlines would be godd to have. I also like seeing a menubar.

I do like that the newer version provided above allows one to work with MD5 checksums.

FashSFV 2.5 also seems more buggy than FashSFV 2.0f. I could not find a problem with FashSFV 2.0f.

My operating system is Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4.

v2.5 is almost a complete rewrite of v2.0, The interface and some features are not finished and probably quite buggy. I haven't had any free time to work on FlashSFV.

Understandable, if FlashSFV would have to be done on free time rather than on IniCom Networks time.

Nice software!:)
But if can support other languages, it will be much helpful.
When I click new button, the treectrl and listctrl can not display other language strings. :(

It's definetly very good, but have you tried hkSFV v2.0.1 (84)? Which is better and why, what do you think guys? I like FlashSFV because it's only 1 .exe file.

I am looking at the registry for associating SFV and MD5 files with FlashSFV. I notice in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FlashSFV.Docum ent\Shell\open\Command

the value is "c:\progra~1\flashsfv\flashsfv.exe "%1"".

When the value is changed from 8.3 format to "C:\Program Files\FlashSFV\FlashSFV.exe "%1"" the directory of the SFV file in the main window when verifying the sums is in 8.3 format (ie "D:\-_DOWN~1\FlashSFV\flash.sfv" instead of "D:\-= Downloads =-\FlashSFV\flash.sfv").

Not really a big deal, just seeing if this can be adjusted to support full path names.

bigstar

The way it's set in the registry is fine.

However if you really want to change it to the full path, rather than the 8.3 name then you need to format the string correctly.

It should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\FlashSFV\FlashSFV.exe" "%1"

I just came across this. Are there any instructions on how to use it? Does it plug into Flash FXP to check files as they are downloaded or is it just a SFV checker to use after downloading them?

Thanks.

This is a simple SFV and MD5SUM checker. It doesn't plug into FlashFXP. It can be associated to the .sfv and .md5 files so you only have to double click on them to check the files.

Wouldn't this be actually useful? i'd use it if it was done this way, my landisk screws up crc's all the time, if a plugin for flashfxp would check and redownload that would be awesome.

that's not what flashsfv was designed for...
flashsfv just checks your sfv and shows in gui what is ok/missing/corrupt.

what is the point in checking the sfv when you have allready downloaded it ?

MxxCon
05-17-2006, 12:21 PM
well for one, sfv is used in other places beside downloading...anywhere you need to ensure integrity of your files.
so, in your case, the point of checking sfv would be to ensure that your downloaded files aren't corrupted.(which is what ALL sfv applications do)

Thank you! :) I have been using FlashSFV 2.0f for ages. I just formated and tried to download it again, but the link on http://www.inicom.net/pages/en.products-freeware.php seems to be broken. I got lucky and found out that there is a newer version on the forum, and the link works. :) Shouldn't you guys update the freeware page? From 2.0f to 2.5? Just a thought. Anyways great program. :) Keep up the good work.

EDIT:

Does FlashSFV 2.5 alter the .sfv or .md5 file or the files being checked in anyways? I heard that some "checkers" do. Is this the case for FlashSFV? Hope not.

i been keeping my eyes and using flashsfv from time to time, however i really like hksfv as it works like a scene sfv checker! However hksfv doesnt work well with the newer windows like flashsfv does and i was curious to know if you plan to add the features! If u do the best of hksfv and best of flashsfv would hands down make it the best sfv checker availble! examples of features i talk of!

hkSFV 2.0.1 (Build 84) 10.30.2002 and best overall SFV if worked well with windows 7
However if u add these features with the already exclusive features flashSFV would be the power house!

Perhpas its important that I explain this is on a VM of Win7 64bit, I was trying to generate/calculate the MD5 values of some files, in options checked "add create to explorer folder right click menu"

Then I proceeded click new and opens two explorer like panes, browsing to a mounted drive is painfully slow (nothing any other programs struggles with) to the point of saying FlashSFV not responding, eventually 5 minutes later, it loaded the folder I kept these files and other files in and right click and calculate hung again for another long long while.

I had time to open a browser > search for md5 sfv sha calculators> go through quite a few downlands and testing on other generate the md5 and go back to see its still (not responding).

Apart from that it worked great having a little MD5 of the files and hashes..

Suggestions.

I would rather calculate the value of files directly and not from a folder that unless I want to calculate the hash for all the content have to create yet another folder holding the files I do want to have hashes for.

Perhaps it would be a nice idea to include other hashes like sha256 or other sha flavours.

Some drag and drop would have been even better, but to be fair none of the other programs I tested while waiting, supported drag and drop. ;)

Some message saying something to effect that it has processed/calculated the md5 or whatever, after the hanging and whatnot I didnt know it had succeeded until I looked in drive.
Simpler interface slightly more responsive.

Nice shout though it could have been rather simpler program and more complete. I give it 2.5 stars if it didnt hang would have been another point, something like what I ended up testing and keeping www.checksumcalculator.com (http://www.checksumcalculator.com)
