RAS Graph & Stats is a network/dialup monitor and stats tool. It provides real time graph of traffic. Detailed stats provide daily/weekly/monthly/yearly stats/user defined range. Stop watch. etc..

This app basically picks up where the old NetStat left off by providing stats for network card (cable/dsl/etc)

RAS G&S is now Win9x/Win2k/XP compatible

Download RAS Graph & Stats (http://www.flashfxp.ws/zip/freeware/rasgs1.20.zip)

Whats New in v1.20
1. Improved stats routines/better performance
2. Improved graph, several new graph options.
3. Added Reports

Known Bugs
1. When changing the horizontal scale + update interval the vertial minute lines aren't drawn correctly.

ive just starting using it. I like it alot better than DUMeter, except that the overall stats dont seem to update alot, maybe once every 20 minutes or something. Could it be possible to have the update to the overall stats userconfigurable or maybe saved into memory and saved to file when it is shutdown?

good job bigstar :)

The stats are saved to disk every 5min, the reports read from the files on disk. I was going to make it save the stats before showing the reports so that it had the correct information but it slipped my mind.

Can this monitor a router(linke linksys) to get total traffic for a site

bigstar

No, it can only monitor a single computer.

Man, I have been lookin for some software to do this. If you have a linksys there is something out there that will do this: Link Logger (http://www.linklogger.com/) . Too bad, Linksys has so much support; I bought a linksys and didn't like it as much as my Netgear FR314, so I returned it. If anyone knows of a proggie to capture out of site/LAN, I would love to know.

CyberGAuge (http://www.neon.com/CyberGauge.html) and MRTG (http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/) will track traffic in any SNMP device (such as modem) except, I can't get the Community string of it.

Could it be possible that the program saves whether you set days or months etc. order ascending or descending.
And another problem I have is, that the stopwatch seems to start by itself, I'm not sure when but even if I turn it off, the next few days after I check it its starded again. Does it run with program start or something ?

Thanks for the head's-up. Unfortunately, my router isn't supported (FR314) nor does it look promising in the future. I have been contemplating getting a new firewall router, but I want SNMP capability to use CyberGauge or MRTG. The only router s (reasonble) I see are some of the Linksys but I don't like the construction as much as Netgear.

This is extremely sweet. Thankyou very much for coding it up and releasing as freeware....

One possible addon and that is a option so when you click X it just minimises rather than exits... ????

Also an option to run at startup, minimised in the sys tray just like the network connection icon ?????

Thanks

Exactly what I was looking for! :) love the fact that it breaks up the info in order to see trends. Only thing I would like to see if there will be any future releases, is the option to auto-minimize the program so that it wouldn't be necessary to minimize the program every time my pc boots.

edit properties of shortcut in startup group to start as minimize.

Bigstar,

I don't know why I have not mentioned this before...

Just quickly about my setup... one network card, I connect the NIC to my switch, which I run my LAN & internet through... so basically I use the same NIC for the internet & LAN.

I have noticed that the internet traffic, seams accurate... however the LAN traffic doesnt... if im sending files to other computers, which would be going at about 7-10 mbyte/sec... the upload speed is generally non-existant and the download (??) speed is about 200 k/s..

Let me know what you think, if I have explained it enough and if you have any other questions.

That's really strange, I've run ras g&s on all my LAN's and never had incorrect stats for local taffic.

My old LAN uses a linksys router/switch and the new one a netgear router/switch.

I don't have a router, only a switch... so you wouldn't think that should effect the reading..

Tell me what else to try, I can try setting up a FTP server & see if that traffic is correct..

The traffic im talking about, where it doesn't show the upload speed is windows file sharing

could it be possible that BigStar add a feature so that multiple NICs can be monitored ? on seperate graphs or on the same if there's a good readable solution

(I don't want answers like launch multiple RAS GS)

bigstar

I'm afraid there's no easy way for me to do this. It would require a rewrite be capable of monitoring multiple interfaces. Also the graph is limited to 2 data sources so multiple graphs would be needed.

If you need to monitor multiple interfaces the only thing I can suggest is to mutiple copies from different folders.

it's not very usable that way, is there a way to stick windows together ? like winamp or whatever.... maybe an external software ?

i'd like to see an F# button for reports and/or be able
to right click on the icon and pick it. prefer the right
click option more.

my 2 cents

I removed it because it would not show the tray icon, even though the process was still active...

I have been using this since January and I have downloaded and uploaded 60GB :). The only bug that I have found so far, is if you are using Windows XP to hide the tray icon with "Show Activity In Tray Icon" disabled, the tray icon will only be hidden until you restart and then the icon is displayed again.

Does any one know how to keep the tray icon hidden?

Just thought I'd let you know that the version listed on the website under the freeware section is RAS v1.19. Might be an idea to update the link :)

One question: Why does it say I've already downloaded 1,48 GB?

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/83/download5zw.jpg

I installed the program today and downloaded only 6 MB since then.
Where does this 1,48 GB come from? Where can I reset this?

MxxCon

that counter isn't rasgs'. application takes those values from windows itself.
are you using same network card for your lan transfers?

Yes, I do. My computer has a 10Mbit permanent lan connection to a server which is a NAT router, I think (don't know how it works exactly, but I don't have a real IP adress - it's only used in our company lan).

RAS G&S says I have two Network Interface options:

0 | MS TCP Loopback interface | 127.0.0.1
1 | Realtek RTL8029(AS)-PCI-Ethernet... | (internal IP) | MAC

I use the second one - is this right?

application takes those values from windows itself.

Where can I reset this value? Registry? LAN->Properties or something like this?

Ah, that did the trick. Thank you!

/edit
last question: as seen here (@0,66 KB/sec)

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/83/download5zw.jpg

I have a constant downstream of 0,3 - 0,7 kB/sec even if I don't download anything from LAN or internet. I think this is some sort of keep-alive information between my computer and the server.
Is there any way to tell RAS G&S that it shouldn't count this static traffic? I think not, right?

MxxCon
12-02-2005, 11:22 AM
that's common on some cable internet connections..constant broadcast traffic(most likely ARP). with my old isp it used to be constant rate of 5k/s.
you can not tell rasgs to ignore that becuase it's not looking at network traffic itself, just builtin windows counters.
your best bet is to make sure that it's not you can control and possibly turn off...
and even if you won't be able to, amount of data being transfered is very small, it won't really affect your stats.

im not a techhie at all so could someone please explain to me in plain laymans terms how I add it to the startup items? also what is it under for when I need to delete it as I cant find it anywhere
