View Full Version : Question of How to tell FXP to refresh folder after I stop an upload?

FlashFXP 3.6
Eg. I have a 100mb file to upload and I have it stop to upload when it uploaded 2mb
at this moment, if I resume this upload, it will re-upload instead of resume
because when I hit stop, it didn't refresh the server
so FXP "assume" there's no this file on the server, it then re-upload...
Is it possible to tell FXP to refresh first when I hit stop?
So FXP will always get the correct file size to resume.
Similar to the method of download, cause everytime when I download a file, it will always refresh local folder when I hit stop.
Hope I have made it clear.
Thank you.

When you transfer a file FlashFXP sends the SIZE command to determine 2 things the 1. if the file exists and 2. the file size, it does not use the size in the file listing unless SIZE returns an invalid reply.
If you abort the transfer and refresh the listing does FlashFXP resume correctly?

yah, it will resume correctly, if I refresh manually
because by doing refresh, the file size will change to correct one as well
due to my newbieness with FXP, how do I send the SIZE command?
Thanx again.

The SIZE command is sent automatically, however you will not see it in the session status window.
What happens if you manually send SIZE <filename> via a raw command (CTRL+R)
Does it show the correct size?

I can't see the files on server
but if I do this command, yes, it'll display the correct size in status window
You have to type the filename though

if it returns the correct size then it should work automatically with FlashFXP. yes, must enter the filename.

hm..but it didn't work automatically?
everytime I upload without refresh the server, it'll just keep re-upload at same place.
Can I tell to FXP that everytime I stop upload, it will check the file size automatically?
Cause I have many videos in queue and I can't watch it 24/7
Thank you.

Well, that's how its supposed to work, its not really clear to me why its not working properly.
You might try the latest beta and see if it helps.

Can't I make it to work with Download-like method?
cause you know, when you download something, it'll always auto-refresh local folder when you stop it
I have just tried 3.7.8 Build 1332 (or 3.7.9.1343?) and it is still the same...><
am I the only one who has this problem?
Thank you.

Do you know what ftp server software is being used on the server?
This does work on all the FTP servers I've tested. The fact that the SIZE command is sent makes refreshing list unnecessary.

I'm afraid that I can't not know about that...
can you explain once again how it worked on the servers you've tested?
they just all refresh automatically once you hit stop? just like Download method?
and the SIZE command you are talking about, is it the one you have to type filename? or is it different one?
cause as I mentionned before, I have many videos in queue and I can't type this command manually 24/7, so I need something "automatically"...
Thanx again.

It seems to me like there might be a compatibility issue with the ftp server but without knowing what ftp server software is being used I've hit a dead end.
Like i previously said, a refresh isn't needed because FlashFXP sends the SIZE command. It's all completely automatic..
Can you at least include a copy of the ftp session log?

The only thing I can think of is that when the transfer is aborted and then SIZE is sent the reply is garbled, the problem however is that since the SIZE command and reply aren't shown we can't see what the result is.
When the transfer is stopped are you always manually aborting it?
What if you do your abort and then manually send a raw command something random such i.e. "HELLO", what is the reply? After sending that command if you start the queue does it resume correctly?
In my opinion there seems to be some sort of bug but I am not able to reproduce it.

When the transfer is stopped are you always manually aborting it?not everytime.
It happent once before, when I spent 40mins to upload this video and the trasnfer fail, it then get back to 40mins ago and re-upload...
What if you do your abort and then manually send a raw command something random such i.e. "HELLO", what is the reply? After sending that command if you start the queue does it resume correctly?Nope, still not refreshing the folder.
