Any help appreciated,

From within FlashFXP, Options > File Associations

You can define custom text editors based on file mask patterns.
For example for text files you might use "*.txt" (without quotes)

For the editor/viewer select "Internal Editor" from the Open With dropdown list, or browse for any other program you want to use instead.
