language Translation Template was updated on 12/26/07 from 1.7 to 1.7.2

Somehow I managed to accidentally remove some translation strings from the language file template (1.7.1), they have been added back for 1.7.2.

Download Language Package (https://oss.azurewebsites.net/?d=111) (includes English Template)
Download Translation Editor (https://oss.azurewebsites.net/?d=18)

NEW INSTALL

1. Open the TsiLang Files Editor
2. Load the English.sib located in the "LangPack.zip" file
3. Select the first form (TFrmABM), then select Captions
4. From the menu Tools, select Add Language
5. Type in the language name, if dutch, type "dutch"
(A new column will appear to the right of the English Columns)

6. Enter the translated text for each English phrase

(when you've completed the translation or when you're done for now)
7. From the menu, File, select Save As, and save the file as your new language using english characters.

*The Captions, Collections, Dialogs, DisplayLabels, Hints, Multilines, Other, Strings all need to be translated.

*Don't translate any character prefixed with %...this text is then later replaced in code.
For example "The folder "%s" does not exist." the %s is replaced with the folder name ("My Folder") and becomes "The folder "My Folder" does not exist."

*You'll notice the ^ character used in some of the text.
For example "%s Folder^, %s File^, %s Total^". The ^ character is converted in code to include "s" if the word is plural (more than one). If the plural translation for the word is different then the best solution is to just leave out the ^

*You'll notice the first letter of some text is underlined. This is for quick keyboard access, and is created by starting the word with an &. We recommend you follow the English translation and prepend your translation with a & when the English translation does.

*You'll notice that some of the text is duplicated, You can manaully translate the duplicates or you can add your translation to the dictionary, once the translated text is in the dictionary it can be used to fill in all the duplicated entries.

*Please try to keep the text case similar to the original.

APPLYING UPDATED LANGUAGE TEMPLATE

1. Open the TsiLang Files Editor
2. Load the English.sib located in the "LangPack.zip" file
3. From the menu, File, select Merge
4. Select the file containing your translated language.
5. From the Merge dialog select your language to merge.
6. Click Next
7. "Skip superfluous entries" should be checked
8. Click Finish
9. Now save the template as a new name or overwrite your existing translation file.

Looking at the new template you will see some new translation entries that previously didn't exist in the old template.

NOTES
This template is currently compatible with FlashFXP build 1175 and up.

If i try to open the .zip file langpack17.zip it appears a dialog saying "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive".

Does anyone else have this problem?.

I have downloaded and installed build 1170 (the most recent build that appears on 'Check for new version' dialog); then i have updated the spanish translation on http://www.inicom.net/pages/en.ffxp-languages.php (uploading a new spanish.sib file containing the language pack 1.7 changes and setting the 'FlashFXP Build:' as '3.3.6.1175') and have downloaded the updated spanish.elg file. Now, when i try to set the spanish language on FlashFXP it says that the translation isn't compatible with this version of FlashFXP.

As you said on your note ... is there any place where i can download FlashFXP build 1175 in order to test the updated translation?.

Thanks.

Thank you for letting us know. There appears to be a logic error in FlashFXP. Newer languages are designed to be backwards compatible up until a specific point, 1.7 was supposed to be backwards compatible with 1.6. However due to this logic error 1.7 isn't compatible with any version of FlashFXP.

Even though this is a 1.7 release it's safe to select 1.6 on the language upload page until we get this problem resolved in FlashFXP. By selecting 1.6 the language will work with build 1170 and up. I'm not 100% sure if all of the new translations are visible in 1170 but I'm pretty sure they are.

This issue has been resolved in build 1176. Build 1176 will be released to beta testers shortly.

All language translators should also be beta testers, so you should have access to the latest beta via the customer portal if not please contact me.

Hi bigstar,

I'm going to prepare the italian language file for the incoming 3.6 version.
Please let we know (translator) if this is the last Language Package ready for the 3.6 version

And I think you could update the "Installer Translation" strings on FlashFXP Languages (http://www.inicom.net/pages/en.ffxp-languages.php)
The new installer has a lots of news strings ...

Regards

Miki

Hi Bigstar, i'm still alive :).

Actually, spanish translation is working on FlashFXP 3.4.1 (build 1170); in order to complete my translation, should i wait to FlashFXP 3.6 (final release) or do you need a translation for 3.6 release candidates aswell?.

By the way, i would love to translate the new help file when you finish it.

Chinese Simplified language file updated.
and the Installer Translations updated too.

Can you use Tahoma, 8 or 9 font in installer GUI?
Existing font is very ugly in chinese.

Sadly the installer looks like crap regardless of which font is used. This is a bug in the installer and the developers don't seem to support their product, we've asked for a fix many months ago and we're still waiting. If we hadn't invested so much into this installer I believe we would of switched along time ago.

Why don't you use Inno Setup or NSIS?
They are freeware, and very powerful.
You can have a try :)

bigstar

Prior to our current installer we're using Inno Setup but we had run into some issues and switched to Ghost Installer.

We didn't realize this issue with Ghost Installer until recently, The problem occurs when ClearType is enable in Windows and a font that supports ClearType is used in the installer, When moving the mouse over the controls/buttons in the installer text is re-drawn in a way that makes it very hard to read. it's almost as if the text position is skewed each time its re-drawn.

Ironically the default installer font is "MS San Seirf" which doesn't support ClearType so the problem isn't obvious but as soon as you change the font it occurs.

The upload page is not working correctly right now, it may say "Invalid file" when you attempt to upload the .sib file. If this happens to you please just email the file to info@inicom.net and I'll get it up as soon as we get the backend fixed.

I've just updated the French translation to 1.7.2.

By the way, is there any way to get back to English while testing language files? Preferably a method that doesn't involve editing FlashFXP.ini manually.

I'm not sure to understand your request ...
If you want change FlashFXP language, you could do it if you have 2 or + language file
on the folder Language (under FlashFXP folder).
And if you have 2 or + language, you can switch language with the menu:
Options --> Language

You can find Installation Instructions here: FlashFXP Languages (https://secure.flashfxp.com/languages.php)

1 Review the End User License Agreement (EULA).
2 Make sure you are running FlashFXP v3.4. You can download it here.
3 Find your language in the list below, and click on the name to download.
4 Save or copy the language file to the Language folder inside the FlashFXP program folder.
By default, the full path of this folder is is C:\Program Files\FlashFXP\Language.
5 Start FlashFXP. On the Options menu expand Language.
6 In the Language list, click the language file of your choice.

Yeah, I know. That's what I use to switch to French. However, the English language file doesn't seem to be included by default. It doesn't need to be since English is the default language for all text; but then you don't have any way to switch back to English.

I guess I'll have to download the English.elg file then...

Thanks for your help.

Some how I missed your post. English should be listed on the language selection list regardless of having an english.elg file, the file is no longer needed to use English or to switch back to English from another language. each language file has English and we just use that when switching back, otherwise it will just use the default text on startup.

UPDATE: it looks like our beta testers missed this bug. after further testing I was able to reproduce the problem over and over. We'll get this fixed for the final release. Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention.

To bigstar

I've downloaded the v3.6.0 (build 1240) FlashFXP for evaluation. And I found out the japanese localization is incorrect. The language file contains many non-japanese vocabulary and wrong syntax. I assume it perhaps was localized by using auto-translating software.

I can provide accurate japanese translation if appropriate.

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

I sent you a private message about a week ago. Perhaps you were too busy at that time, so I post this issue at the forum.

Please direct a pm my way if you are not the one who I sent an email to today. We have had someone request to be able to update the Japanese language previously, I'm not sure if this was you or not.
