We are pleased to announce that ioFTPD, our high performance FTP Server, will be released as open source under the GPL. We will continue to support the project through web hosting, support forums, and project management.

For the past two years, iniCom has put effort behind the ioFTPD project...a project whose pace has slowed to unacceptable levels. Rather than let development remain in its current state, we would like to see ioFTPD thrive as a community driven project.

Given the right people, motivation, and skillset, ioFTPD has the potential to be THE open source FTP server for windows, and compete with servers costing hundreds or thousands of dollars. A big thanks to all of the users, supporters, and scripters who have driven this project over the last couple years...we hope to see even greater things come out of future ioFTPD development.

Stay tuned for official links/news releases as we make this transition.

the project is now hosted on sourceforge: ioftpd project page (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ioftpd).

from there you can access the subversion repository. i'm still working on making a binary file upload of the registered version of ioftpd. here is the work that needs doing immediately:

we need a developer website, hosted on sourceforge?
i'd like a trac instance to work with bugs, patches, and documentation.
i need someone to send me a patch removing all the registered/not-registered stuff
i'd like to see developer instructions on setting up the build environment.
we need a successful build of the 0.5.x branch that we can release.
anything else?

i'm only handing out commit access to a few people. if you'd like to be active in this project, send me patches, either for the above problems or anything else that you want to fix. a record of good patches will get you commit access.

you can use my sourceforge e-mail address to send patches: aisa0<at>users.sourceforge.net.

neoxed, do you still have your todo list? i can dig up a copy and post it here if the one i have is current.
